I agree. And it is really difficult to see my computer choke past 10000 lines of code writen in Visual C++

Oh, and FM is definately one of the causes

10000 lines are nothing.

Current project I'm working on consists of 7601 files with about 2-3 million lines of code.(PHP, Perl, Java, C++, Tcl)

Okay, I understand KUTGW, RTFFH, and WAHGERTY11, but WTF does PHP, Perl, Java, C++ and Tcl mean?

I'm glad it's not at once but managed in different subsystems. Mainly PHP for webserver frontend, Java for extensions to our Content Management System, Tcl for maintenance, output cleanup and post-export for the Content Management System, Perl (and Shellscripts) for cronjob scripts and common maintenance, and C++ for high performance system functionality. Add to this three different database management systems (MySql, Oracle, Postgres) and you can imagine what daily life looks like. It's like a freaking puzzle.

oh, it's easy. It all used to be on MySql. A long long time ago. Then came Postgres. Because it had more functionality (subselects, ...) and was still free. And then we got the money for Oracle. And lots of stuff got migrated. But not everything. Voila
