After been with Italian side Fano for the past 8 seasons i have been posed with the thought that it might be the end of an era and it may be time for me to move on.
I joined Fano in the Italian serie C2 league-B as an unheard English manager and it wasnt before long the media as in real italian football were on my back touting us as a major contender to be relegated in this my first season. With a 4k transfer budget the club 300k in the red and 7k over on the wage budget you wouldnt have bet against it, i sent my 1 and only scout on a mission to find me some sturdy players and after 3 long months of searching i had a massive 8 loan signings from serie C1 and serie B respectively holding the fort, with 7 games left we were lying a lofty 2nd in the table with the media slowly turning back on their words of 9 months ago. We finished 2nd but disappointingly never made it to the playoff finals. For the 2nd season the club were much more prepared with a full first team of actual club contracted players all signed for free, the club went against our mid table status to win the league on the last day of the season. 1 point behind the league leaders at the start of play saw Fano comfotably win 3-0 and the opponents of the league leaders equalize in the 85min handing the title over to those at R.Mancini. The 3rd season proved to be a succesful one, as expected this time Fano were written off as relegation contenders but with some starteling individual performances and an all round bustling work rate managed to finish 2nd after leading for a good 3/4 of the season but yet again succumbed to playoff jitters and failed to make it to the final.
Now with money in the bank after selling a few players We had 100k to spend but still with an oversized wage bill, the manager had high expectations, it wasnt to be.With the transfer window closed and 8 of Fano's first choice players on the injury table each for 3mths or more the christmas table saw Fano lying in 16 pos but after a hard battle and more injuries Fano were eventually relegated finishing bottom of the table.
The board stood by the manager but expected a swift return to the serie C1A division again this wasnt to be as Fano finished 1 out of the playoffs, growing very impatient the Fano board decided repay the managers loyalty with some of their own and it proved a good move seeing team returin to the serie C1 finishing in 1st pos.
After 2 more seasons in serie C1A finishing 10th and 7th respectively and with job offers from Sheff Wednesday, Stoke and Lecce rejected Fano comfortably won the league with 4 games remaining jumping into the promise land of serie B sadly this is where my dilemma begings in Jan the team are lying in 11th spot well clear from the relegation zone and completely safe, a serie A club offer the Fano manager the position to save them from relegation with the team lying 19thin the division they feel he is the man to save their current status.
here is my small dilemma.
What shall i do? what would you do?
Jesus, thats just a blur of letters, how bout a hit of the return key now and then. Somthing about serie C2, possibly a B and then a blur, sorry it's 4am here.
I would stay with your current team, I would as you are pretty sure of staying in Serie B. I think you should then try and reach Serie A with your current team. If you accexpted the job at Lecce and got relegated you might then get the sack and be left without a job, but if you stay at your current job you are more likley to succedd.
btw next time do as rukus said and in addition you want to refrain from using allcaps in the thread title. In here people will look at your thread even without them
