Season 7-10/11- Chatteauroux- French League 2

League Cup- Lost in 2nd Rnd to Montpellier. But crushed League 1 Grenoble 3-0 in Rnd 1.

French Cup- Lost in 9th Round to League 1 Auxerre.

League- The #1GK I bought a couple season back matured this season. He allowed 18 in 29 games w/ 8.0 rating. Unfortunately, vultures are gathering and with a 4mil release, I'm betting he's gone. That said, he led us to the promised land. Top 3 all season, top spot most of the year. Finished 5pts in front, clinched promotion with a month left and the league w/ 3 matches left. 1st place-25/7/6-82pts. Once again we sported the top defense in League 2, 25GA all season.

I earned League 2 Manager of the Year. GK was named League 2 keeper of the year. We were given 2.2mil for transfer funds for next season-a paltry sum for the task, IMO. Board and fans expect me to fight the drop, and the bookies are saying it's a hopeless task. I'm sure you can supply the next line.

Season 8-Chateauroux-11/12- French League 1

This is an October update...you can guess what that means.

Having 4pts from 9 games. Rock bottom of table, with 2 strikers on long term injuries and the rest not able to find the net in practice, let alone matches. I was looking afraid I'd be facing relegation.

Ahh, but then sometimes the game does nice things. Nantes sacked their manager, and guess who they asked to take over their 6th placed club, along with their 15mil transfer budget and 'secure' finances.

Need I say my choice. Call me mercenary. I can take it.

Season 8- Nantes- 11/12- French League 1

Took over in 6th position. Board expectations "rebuild squad." Fan expectations "Safe mid-table." No, I didn't understand why so low either. Squad was easily top 5 in calibre. Starting with France's #1 GK, through a group of skilled center-backs and DMCs, to some fleet wingers and 3 top-drawer strikers.

Bad news-150k per week over budget and bleeding 500k a month. Lost an elite DMC for Bosman due to not being able to pay wages. Also antagonised several players due to my cost-cutting measures, including the club's "favored player" and 150 goal scorer (for his career at27!) Romanian SC, who now dislikes me.

League Cup- Eliminated 1st round. Reserves were hacks.

League- Being 6th to start out, we were nearly 20 pts back of leaders Marseille. Brought in a few players from Chateouroux, thus ensuring their demise, to bolster my attacking midfield options. Had the best defense in League 1 (30GA in 38). 2nd best attack. Set a club record for consecutive wins and ended up a very respectable 4 pts off Marseille's title winnng pace w/ 22/7/9-73 pts. 2nd place 7.25mil in coffers for second place. Champion's League qualification.

French Cup- Reserves did better vs. lower league opposition. Drew Marseille at home in Quarter finals. Used squad players and crushed them 3-0. With our league position locked in 2nd, I decided to go all-out to win the Cup. Beat St. Etienne 1-0(et) in semis. Drew Paris S.G. for final. 120 min of goalless footy (not for both sides failing to try) led to the shoot out. Our French #1 stuffed 2 PKs and they scuffed another to give us a 3-1 win. French Cup Winners. Another nearly 2mil, after gate, to the coffers.

Expecations for next season- Continental Qualification. Bookies put us 14-1, 3rd favorites. But with the squad in transition, I think if we get into the Champion's League again we'll be doing 'very' well.

Season 9-12/13-Nantes- French League 1

League Cup- Lost to Lorient in Semis.

French Cup- Crashed out at Lyon in Quarterfinals.

Champion's League- Finished 2nd in Group of FC Koln, Porto, and Olympiokas. Fell to 2nd on last day by failing to beat the Greeks. Result of this failure- A.C. Milan in 1st knockout rnd. Goodbye. 1-2 aggregate loss.

League- Once again our French #1 led our side to a brilliant defensive record. 17 GA in 38 games! Romanian FC buried the hatchet with me, then proceeded to bury 29 goals in opposing nets, winning the European Golden Boot in the process. Picked up a Swedish AM/F C on FT, and he proceeded to bang home another dozen goals. 2 others finished just below 10 goals.

Despite all this, Lyon reeled us back in, and on the last day, we were a mere 2pts up, playing rivals Bordeaux away, needing the win to be sure of the title. Romanian FC struck with a hat trick, 2 of the spectacular variety, and the 3-0 win made us French Champions!

Made 29.9mil for season. Despite this, the board actually cut my transfer budget to 5.5mil. Meanwhile they of course expect us to repeat as title winners. Fans harbor similar expectations. So do the bookies, who've installed us as 3-1, top favorites. However, our side is aging fast, not least of which French #1, who will be 35 at season's end. Balancing the removal of overpaid older players with keeping the squad strength up is the real challenge for the season.

Season 10-2013/2014-Nantes-French League 1

Sold a DR on his 7.5mil min release. Sold an AML for 17mil. Used this to fund the purchase of a certain 24yr old Yank who was plying his trade at Atletico Madrid, he had 24 goals in 40odd US caps. Splashed the cash in a 16mil transfer. Board upped by transfer budget to 14.5mil afterwards anyway due to "financial improvement."

Champion's League- Had the hardest group, Bundesliga Champs FC Koln, Roma, and Club Brugge as a not-throwaway 4th. We finished top of the group, 12pts. Our reward? Manchester United. A wild tie ended in the 83rd minute when ex-Everton prat scored to put us out 5-4 aggregate.

League Cup- Lost 0-1 to Paris S.G. in the semi-final, a very tight affair. But my backup keeper couldn't stop the 'only' shot on target he faced, from 25yards. He was shown the way back to the reserves in the offseason, in favor of a coup signing of Strasbourg's former #1 to deputize for my now 35yr old French #1 until he retires.

League- Domination. Best offense (71 scored in 38 games). Best Defense (18 against, half of those in the 5 games following our clinching the league). Our league form was solid and consistent all season. Romanian SC scored 22 and was named player of the year. Yank was voted 3rd place. I won manager of the year. 25/9/4-84pts Repeat Champions. Won by 14pts over Marseille.

French Cup- All the luck I didn't get in the other cup competions I landed here. Survived a 2-0 first 20 minutes to Mulhouse (Non-league!) to win 4-2. Then drew Lyon, but crushed them 3-0. Two more non-leagues easily dispatched got us into the semis. With the league clinched, we tried for the double. First team crushed Montpellier 4-0, and we drew Nimes in the Final. An early PK by the Yank was nearly undone by a stupid red card by my DMC. But my Spanish AML scored in the 2nd half to salt the game. 2-0 League Cup winners for the Double!

Signed 2 young flamboyant strikers to fill out my strike force, and an Argentinian left wing from Monaco to allow me to move the Yank into the center of midfield for next season. Transfer budget is 18.25mil. Made 30mil last season. I'm probably going to make 1 more try with Nantes at Europe, and if we can't make any progress over the last two seasons, I'll move on.
