For my first attempt at managing in the LLaMa style I decided to take the reigns at Southport. Board expectation were promotion and media considered us as one of the favourites. this gets me excited as I start to dream of the Conference North Title
Season 04/05
Decide to work with the current squad this season in order to let my scout have a good look around at some likely candidates for next season.
My initial optimism for the season ahead was totally destroyed after not acheiving a league win in the first 18 games of the campaign. With the board threatening to sack me on a regular basis the pressure was really on
Brought in a new number 2 which seemed to improve our form for the rest of the campaign and keep me in my job.

Season 05-06
Board lowered expectations for this season and want a respectable league position. Made three pre-season signings at the total cost of £2K to replace three very poor performers from last season.
Again a terrible start to the season left us hovering above relegation, once again the board were ready to give me the boot.
Tinkered with our training schedules and started to get some positive results and consistency which as the season finished saw us miss out on the play-offs by goal difference

Season 06/07
As expected board again want a respectable league position and after signing what should be a class goaalkeeper at this level for £35K and a couple of decent freebies I was confident we could really challenge for promotion :p
To my surprise we had a superb start as we stayed unbeaten in our first 17 games, kept reasonable form staying top of league until the final hurdle.
Our players felt the pressure as we lost our final four games of the season. Halifax who had kept in touching distance of us all season took advantage to finish above us by 2 points
So to the play-off, a comfortable 2-0agg against scarborough in the semi. In the final we were thrashed 3-0 by Droylsden as our players again fell apart when the pressure was on
Oh well thats football I suppose, Will update on season 2007/08 in a month if any interest is shown.
Bad luck against Droylsden, they also knocked me out in a play-off a couple of seasons ago....bas****s. Keep your chin up tiger, get them next year (if they haven't been promoted).
We had a terrific start to the campaign staying top of the league through until December. The loss of a couple of key players to bigger clubs(one a striker who had scored 24gls in 23 games)disrupted our form there after. Brought in a couple of freebies as replacements. Eventually finished the season in 2nd. Turned down a tempting Job offer at Swindon Town.
So back to the play-off lottery for the Sandgrounders and I am left hoping the experience of last seasons failure will give us an advantage.
We comfortably beat Grantham 3-1agg in the semi and followed that we an exellent performance against Runcorn in the Conferance North Final winning 2-0.
So off to the Conferance North/South final with Barrow the only obstacle standing in our way to the Conferance National. In a very tight and tense game both sides struggled to take control of the game managing 3 shots each in 90mins. Barrow scored from a free kick in the 82min to break the Sandgrounders hearts as we fail to get promotion yet again.
At least we've got the FA Trophy final I against Burton Albion. Although they are the Conferance North Champions I was feeling very confident as in both our league meetings we ran out 3-0 winners home and away.
With 12,101 fans as witness Burton Albion take us by surprise and dominate from the whistle. We could find no answers and end up losing 1-0 which flattered us as if the Burton strikers had been on better form with would have been thrashed.
With the season finished I can't help feeling a lack of enthusiasm at the prospect of another season in the Conferance North and am left wondering if turning down the Swindon Town job in December was actually a good decision.
