Hmm.. I'm disappointed to see SI haven't fixed this to new version (still playing FM2007 and haven't bought the new version yet). I don't know what's the point adding this feature to the game when it's obviously not working.

i had exactly this problem too, trying downloading and installing the beta patch it will fix it up for ya

also get moniz from tottenham as assman, every game i play in 08 i choose him, incredible stats and very reliable.

I haven't noticed any problems with playing as a lower league team , once all my affairs on the transfer market are completed and a few games under my belt , the reports i get are usually him saying that we have a good enough team to do what is required of them. I haven't updated to beta patch.
