Started an unemployed 08 career with Wales, Scotland, N. Ireland, Ireland, and England (Coca Cola L2 and up only) leagues loaded with an automatic reputation.

Wexford Youths (ID1) came calling and I jumped on it. I saw that they were an amateur club. I accepted the offer anyway. Little did I know what mess I'd get into with an amateur club.

Regardless, my question is this: do amateur clubs ever become semi-professional and then professional in 08.

With one year remaining, I'm still very much in debt, but the Board has told me that they are starting work on a new stadium and they also offered me a contract extension with a full year remaining on my current contract.

I checked Wikipedia today to read up about the club (so that angle is covered).

If they are going to remain amateur all the time (assuming I can get them out of their substantial debt balance), I don't want to renew/sign an extension.

Maybe one of you can enlighten me with how amateur clubs work in the game?

It will go semi-professional, then professional. It happens by getting promotions. So keep working hard :thup:

I have the same challenge, managing Lok Leipzig in Germany. Had the same question, but I knew it would be answered sooner or later
