I mean, what good is it to have a rating system if it doesn't really reflect accurately how the player is performing?
The current rating system is ridiculous. My DM C's always get lower ratings compared to the rest of the team. Not because they perform bad. Even when they are the most accurate passer in a specific game, or tackle the most, win key headers and tackles, do almost everything right, they still usually get a 6 when the rest of the team gets 7's.
SI has to fix this problem in 2nd patch. We are waiting so long for them to fix the game, I hope it will be worth waiting.
There are people who think the game is playable but I disagree. I won't play this game if the most important aspects need fixing, such as:
1- match engine (when a team plays very offensive, there is no way for the other team to prevent the opponent from getting 25-30 shots. It's ridiculos. The defense always sucks. SI cheats to overcome this: Attacking minded team gets the positions, always, but they miss them all, so that the final score looks reasonable. I really hate this. It's been years now since this problem exists, SI never fixes it.
2- Transfers.
3- Ratings.
I'm tired of waiting. I miss the old CM games. Sure they weren't as nice as these new series, but things were working. With these new series it's always the same storie: First we wait for the patches to have a playable game, the patches make the game somewhat playable, then the new version comes, with old bugs popping again, and we welcome some new ones too.
For the most part, I agree with you. But regarding point 1, has it really been happening for years? I've rarely seen any complaints about it prior to FM08.
Also the old CM games had just as many problems, and were bugged as hell at times. Even the glorious CM01/02 that people seem to think is the best in the series had 3 patches, iirc.
It's only really 08 tbh. CM's get poor ratings, but defence and strikers seems ok.
FM07's ratings were far too high at times.
CM0102 was cack until it's 3rd patch
CM4 was cack.... period.
CM0304 was ok after several patches
FM2005 needed about 5 patches
FM2006 needed a couple
FM2007 had 2 patches
So not sure that the assertion of the old one being different makes any sense.
CM's and DM's get low ratings in FM08, because they commit most of the fouls and in FM08, commiting fouls will lower the rating dramaticly. in my liverpool game, Gerard, in 41 games had 8 goals, 11 asi, 2 red cards and 23 Yelow cards, thats a yellow every other match. I for one gave up and bought Fifa Manager 08.

What are uou talking about? There will definitely be an 8.0.2 to include jan transfers and fix spanish/german reg bugs, so i would hope they fix some other things at the same time.
As to the OP, there are MUCH more serious problems than the rating system. Grey teams overperforming make llm an uphill (or more so) struggle, the spanish reg bug makes playing in a spain or germany a gamble as you don't know how long before it just dies on you; both of these impact the game much more than one keeper getting an 8 and the other getting a 7.
ANYTHING that is marked out of 10 (and in the case of FM generally 5-9) will be flawed simply because of the lack of resolution. So tbh i just use other means of judging my team rather than relying on what the game tells me - if you don't like the av ating then use pass completion, tackles, headers, SOTs etc - there's a wealth of information for those who want it.

I was not talking about a patch.Eventought Marc said on one of the threads that he wasn't sure if there was going to be another patch or not. What I meant to say,I have a bad feeling that there is not going to be a FM09.

Which is even more laughable. I will quite happily bet my house that there will be an FM09. SI will not stop making football manager games (nor will they just make FM live if that's what you're thinking) just beacause 08 was a bit sketchy.
And i emphasise A BIT sketchy. Because when all is said and done it isn't a bad game at all.
And of course Marc isn't sure about patches. He doesn't work on the PC version of the game.
So for all those who may be in doubt:
There will almost certainly be an 8.0.2 patch.
There will almost certainly be an FM09.
Sorry to sound harsh bcm, but what your coming out with is not only completely unfounded but not in any way productive.
