Well first of all avoid the patronising comments saying did you turn it off whilst it was saving.

I was playing FM this morning and saved my game, all was fine and good and I continued another day just to check it was working and then whilst on my game status screen the computer was turned off at the mains, so why I came back to find this message: not well formed at line 1 of last saved game.xml

I've never seen this message before, even when I have had saves crash before because the PC has crashed during the save process, so its left me a bit bemused.

I've had this happen once to me as well. The only thing I can think could have caused it was something else going on on the computer.
