Just curious as to when people have had Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville retire on their games.
The thing is, they're all starting to struggle with the ravages of age on my game (I'm only in August '08!) and I'm starting to think that they maybe in their last season as regular first-team players. In truth, I've already begun playing Nani ahead of Giggs most of the time.
The problem is, I'm just too damn sentimental to sell these players or let their contracts expire and have them play for any other club, and I don't want them rotting in the reserves either. So I'm just wondering how long people have generally had to wait before these guys retire.

Giggs, Scholes, Neville - When do they retire? Post #2
Never see them retire to be honest. I'm not the sentimental type on the game so once they aren't cutting it any more at the club then I sell them or let their contract expire.

Giggs, Scholes, Neville - When do they retire? Post #3
In real life, Giggs, Scholes and Neville are pretty much heroes of mine. Their careers developed as I was growing up. As a Man. United fan since around 1990 (when I was very young, I might add), I can barely remember life without these guys. And now I'm just too sentimental to see them play for anyone else, even on a damn game!

Keep them at the club to tutor your youth players! Also, keep up the media interaction about these players, hopefully they can be a good coach or scout for your club.

Giggs, Scholes, Neville - When do they retire? Post #5
All of them are retired in my game in the summer of 2011. Afterwards they are disappeared in the game with none of them being coaches or managers, though I tried a lot to persuade them to be such roles before they retired. I really want to know how to make players become my backroom staff.

They did not really play much part for my team unfortunately from the second half of the first season. As such they become coaches for my side on the following dates:
Scholes - 21/02/2010
Giggs - 28/02/2010
Neville - 25/01/2011
Van Der Sar - 21/02/2010
I had been telling them I wanted them as a coach every couple of months from day 1. And then the moment they announced their retirements I offered them coach contracts. The only bad thing about that is they sign as coaches and though player stats remain for rest of season you cant play them not that they play often, I just wanted to give them a farewell game on last day of the season!

Giggs, Scholes, Neville - When do they retire? Post #9
Well on 07 I signed Neville for my stoke team and I stopped playing it when Neville was 45. I was in the premiership but with careful handling and good training regimes Neville was still my first choice RB for Stoke and England, I posted up his stats at 39 on these forums and a few people concured her was still good then, he never had any pace but people just didn't get past him.
He will probably retire before then though if hes wasting away in the reserves. I've just bought him again in 2010 and he has no plans to retire and signed a 5 year contract.

just checked in december 2009, scholes is listed in the reserves, giggs is a free transfer with very good coaching stats, didn't bother with nev, and van der sar is still number one (mainly because i stole foster). they haven't even really bought anyone else, but they are ahead of me by 9 points.
