I'm not sure why, but when I edit the database it doesn't seem to work properly. I made my own player and checked in the game and that worked fine. However when I try and give a team (in this case, Gillingham FC) a lot of money, it only gives them a certain amount. I tried 100 million, and it only gave 25 million. Can anyone explain why? Or how I can give them more?

i **think** its based on the club reputation aswell as the finances

i also have this problem, but with wage budget, i can get loads of transfer budget like 1 billion, but my wage budget is never raised, so i cant't buy any good players as they find the wage offered unacceptable? does anyone know why this may be?

I raised the reputation so it was maximum and it still failed to work sadly. Thanks for the help anyway. Anyone else got any ideas?

I'm in the same boat with Sutton United. Every year when I get bored of the game, I give Sutton United a ridiculous amount of money and just see who I can get to sign for them in the Conference South. But this year, it just doesn't want to work.

I've set the reputation to 10000, I've given them £1bn, sugar daddy is selected, hardcore fan percentage is 100, transfer budget of £700m, wage budget of £1m... But when I start up a new game, they've got £25m with only £3m to spend on players... It's a bit of a pain, actually...

That's exactly what happens to me, £25 million with around £3 million to spend. You can ask for more.. but it's not as much as I wanted.

Ok, I looked around and I found that if you untick the Sugar Daddy and PLC boxes, you get the transfer budget you asked for... My wage budget is still screwed, but its a start. I've got £700m to spend on players. My balance is only £16.37m though, but at least its a start...

With the 'Sugar Daddy' box un-ticked it makes the balance the default setting. So it still doesn't work properly.

Fixed it!

Ok, go to My Documents - Sports Interactive - Football Manager 2007 - db

Here, you'll have your created database stuff. Mine is called Sutton Utd, so I open that. Then, open the edt folder.

Open the patch.edt file in notepad.

At the bottom, add this line:

"BOOST_TEAM" "Gillingham" 1999999999 0 0


Save, start a new game with your created database and it should work for you.
