There are 43 attributes, not counting GK ones. Remove one of two "Foot" att, as one of them must be 20, that leaves us with 42.

42 x 20 = 840

And yet, the max CA we can get is 200...

Can anyone shed any light on the algorithm behind is converting-CA-to-real-atts mechanism?

Yes this has been mind-boggling to me as well.

The Genie scout has a player rating, which I guess is an indication on what attributes increase with increasing CA.

But please if anyone could shed some light on this matter.

Different attributes have a different affect on CA. For example 10 points of Long Throw may only add 1 to CA, while 1 point of Finishing may add 1 to the CA. Also it depends on the player positions since some attributes are more important for some positions, eg. finishing for strikers and tackling for defenders. Also positions add to CA. So a player with more positions and same attributes as another player will have a higher CA.

As for Genie scout, those are predictions and you really shouldn't take much notice of it. When wanting to know how good a player will get just look at PA.
