Could a Defensive Midfielder be used effectively as a playmaker?
I was thinking, as i've got Pirlo (I'm Not AC Millan - I'm Portsmouth, 2010), if i used him as a playmaker in a 4-4-2 Diamond he could create a lot from deep positions where there aint too much pressure on the ball
Does anyone have any recommendations for his intructions so that i can get the best out of him?
Would his worse stats effect the instructions or the pressure on the players around him? (Mainly the Defenders because hes terrible defensively)
some of his best stats that i think might influence his instructions - Passing - 20
Creativity - 20
First Touch - 19
Concentration - 18
Decisions - 18
Technique - 18
Long Shots - 18
Some of his worst stats that aint too encouraging - Composure - 13
Bravery - 12
Pace - 12
Accelaration - 12
Tackling - 9
Jumping - 8
Heading - 7
I never use playmaker because I never have much success with it. I just generaly set up my tactics so a certain player (usually DMC) is effectively playmaker, but don't tick the box.
I'm sure other people can give better advice on setting up playmakers.
i played huddlestone as dmc playmaker with the yids and he was awseome. especially if you got a fast striker, i had martins as the target man with "run onto ball". huddlestone would knock balls through to him all day long

This Sounds intresting, What kind of passing did u use for your DM, im thinking i should go with more direct so that he plays more killer balls to strikers
I have Alexandre Pato and Tevez (They both have pace of 17 so should be fine) up front so im gonna give it a go with them both as target men running onto the ball
i find dm's are the best to use as playmakers because they tend to get more time on the ball than am's so they have more time to look for a pass, depends on your team exactly how the dm distributes the ball but he can certainly be used as a playmaker
Attacking DM are a key part of my tactic. I come at it a different way though. I like a DM who pushes forward, both running with and off the ball. My favorite player in FM07 is Vincent Kompany. He is the best DM in the game. A DM who gets forward can be unstopable. It is the FM version of a surging libero...the opposition midfield has already dropped back to mark your MCs and wings, leaving the attacking DM open space to exploit. When the defending midfield comes to defend it opens up gaps for him to drible into or to pass to runners. Kompany is perfect because of his high dribbling, off the ball, creativity and FLAIR! His attacking ability is wasted at DC.
