It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Michael Carrick

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if most people find Michael Carrick a bit of a let down or is it just the way I'm playing him?

I play him and scholes as my MC's in a 4-4-2, I have pretty much cracked the rest of my tatic apart from say MC and FB positions.

Anyway I have scholes as my more attacking MC and carrick has my ball winning def style one, he's averaging about 6.87 and gets a few 7s but I'm still playing 1st season and dont know whether to splash out on someone to replace him as i'm currently in 5th place.

I play him in mc and no arrows running back, but all tatic options are based on those given to me for a DM, so any ideas? Him or my Tatic?

He's always been supurb for me. Even now he's playing brilliantly at 35.

I don't do anything special with him really. I find he plays well in the attacking or defensive role in a flat 4-4-2 or in a DM position.

I play him in the same function and he did ok for me, not brilliantly. I got a few others for the position, which made him play a bit better. After 2 seasons I almost sold him, but somehow decided against it due to a long term injury and he started picking up a bit, bending in a few decisive long shots and building up the gmae better... just when he got injured for a few months. I think he will not stick to my team forever though, if someone wants him, he can probably go. Huddlestone is alreadly getting more playtime than him.

What Tactic are you Man United Guys Using. I have tried loads of tactics, but end up winning one game 3-0 and then play watford at home and lose 2-0

I need a tactic that i can trust

i wish fm had more positions like champ man does. champ man is **** at everything but tactics whereas fm is amazing except positioning on tactics if only scholes cud play slightly in front to the left and michael carrick slightly behind mc to the right shame hope the improve it next time round

I bought Owen Hargreaves to replace Carrick, season hasnt started yet, but all my scouts say he's better than carrick, so hoping he's gonna be a star.

Its the way you use him. I play 4-1-3-2 with Carrick at DMC. This has ALWAYS been my best formation in FM/CM and I feel it is best to use an ATTACKING DM. The best DM in FM07 is Kompany, but Carrick is also very good. Carrick turned out to be much better then I thought he would be. I had a bid accepted for Kompany but he signed with AC Milan...he would be better, but I haven't tried for Lucas or Gago.

I use a 442 with AM wingers

one mc forward, one mc backward, so basically they got dmc amc instructions.

the rest always depends a lot on who I am playing, whether I play wide, centered, fast, slow, etc etc.

use opposition instructions, they are valuable!!
