I think that it's time that SI introduced skill levels to FM.
I know that some people love to spend there lives creating tactics for FM 2007 but i'm afraid those people are a minority. The majority don't want to have to take a UEFA pro A license just to play a computer game.
I'm all for realism but dedicating every spare moment of my life to trying to work out a different tactic for every team that i play against over the course of a season is just ridiculous.
I wanna start a petition for SI to introduce skill levels on FM. Just for those of us who love to play manager games but just don't have the time to work out what side of bed wayne rooney got out of the morning before ha plays yout team.
I would like to say to SI that this would benifit everyone. The people who like a challenge would be happy and the people who haven't got every hour that god sends to dedicate to FM would also be happy.
Si have already said this will never happen as it is aginst the path they want the game to go which is to be realistic and difficulty levels are not.
i have heard that it would be very hard to implement difficulty levels as SI would have to make so many different new codes which would lead to the game getting bugged etc.
and how exactly would difficulty levels be implemented? less emphasis on this or that, tactics or players? FM is a series of complex calculations based on certain factors e.g morale tactics and players being the main ones, so it would be virtually impossible to make difficulty levels
however what i am in favour of is a much improved Ass. man that could guide new players and expiernced ones alike to where their problems lie whether it be in players, tactics or other flaws etc by watching actual matches, practice sessions and training matches - thus making the game easier for those who want to listen to the Ass man's input and if you want to figure it out yourself you don't have to listen to what the Ass. man has to say - now this would make the game more realistic and would open the game up to a whole new market of new players becuase with the help of the Ass. man the game would be able to ease new players into the tactics and where they are goin wrong(or right) thus enhancing pick-up and play appeal
I don't think that there is a need to get on the clerk's case.
I can see where this might be an attractive option for some. I would be shocked if SI's marketing team hasn't already considered it. There is never any harm in expanding your potential client base as long as the top end of the game maintains its integrity.
If it had levels, I would do what I do with all games that have levels. Jump in at the top and drown until I figure out how to stay afloat.
i am not trying to get on the clerks case, i myslef can see exactly where he is coming from and i was once in favour of difficulty levels, but then once you think about some of the issues i have mentioned above you can see some very big flaws with that sort of system

I definately think that there is a case for improved Assistant manager interaction. Like in the tv series where Big Ron went to Peterborough Utd to help them out as a 'troubleshooter'.
Sticking with the stat-based assistant manager levels, but generally offering more advice and help for those rookie managers, as I'm sure an assistant would in any real life situation if a new manager stepped in. Perhaps advising on how tactics could be improved (although I realised this would be an almost impossible task to code as there are so many factors and variations). Basically if there would be any type of skill level for the game, I think the assistant manager would be the perfect way to implement this as it would not be too unlike football in real situations. The assistant is there to help assist you as the manager after all, but currently he doesnt do anything but manager reserve and u18 squads and take team talks if you request him to. Perhaps he should be able to get involved more with the management side of things for the first season or so while the new manager settles in to life at the club?
