Im not after a 1-2-3-1-2-1-1 or anything with 50 lines.. I like using regular formations like 4-4-2 and 5-3-2 but the problem is the default ones that come with the game are completely empty in terms of instructions. Every tactic you select just changes how the players line up rather than the mentality. 4-4-2 attacking doesnt give an attacking mentality, just 2 lines on the wingers to run forward.

Basically are there any 4-4-2 defensive, attacking, etc with proper instructions for the players?

try using the "set to" player instructions with a 4-4-2 diamond
