Can you guys please tell me what I am doing wrong with Wayne Rooney, I am coming to the end of my first season and his record so far is:

Apps 12(23) Goals 3 Assists 1 MoM 1
Ave Rating 6.57 Val £30m

Tbh I have another game saved where I am Ajax and Rooney is best in the world, he wins all awards scores loads ect.

This is how I am playing him:

4-4-2 he is up front and the right of the two.

Mentality 1st notch of attacking
Creative Freedom 3rd notch of much
Passing Style Short (team)
Closing Down Rarely
Tackling Easy
Everything else is set to mixed

no free roles, target man or playmaker

As you can see Rooney has not started much because I played him first 10 game and then switched to Torres.

Here is Torres record playing exactly the same way as rooneys tactics above:

Apps 42(7) Goals 30 Assists 9 MoM 6
Ave Rating 7.29 Value £25m

My other striker saha has scored 33 and assisted 15 so my tactic obviously works, just not for Rooney.

Any Ideas guys? lol I would rather keep him than sell him tbh.

you could try him as target man sent to feet as his first touch and off the ball are good, never tried it myself but sounds good

I have him with forward runs much, runw ith ball much, through balls much

also closing down often

short passing, not too much creativity (he will decide himself IMO) and he does brilliantly. let him run with the ball and close down, it's what he does!!

i personally whack him on a free role, give him lots of CF, FR often and closing down mixed. However, on mine his strike partner is a big target man so he is on forward runs to get onto the flick ons.

Let him run onto ball as a fast target man and tick the "Run with Ball" box in the induvidual settings.

Bollock him.

I did that when he had a patch of averaging 6.6ish and went a few games in a row without scoring or producing any assists.

It worked a treat.
