Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default how to beat the big teams???

Currently playing as Aberdeen and sitting 3rd in league behind Rangers and Celtic. Have yet to beat Rangers or Celtic. Anyone have any suggestions on tactics. I play a 4-3-3 and have tried playing defensive and counter as well as attacking with no success

I played a career game starting with Gretna, took them to the SPL, was 3rd for 3 years in a row, ended up editing my team to try and beat the Old Firm and still couldnt win the SPL. I think that the team reputation of the the Old Firm is so much higher that the others that it is very difficult to beat them both, even if you end up above one of them.

This might not be relevant as I haven't actually started a game in the SPL, but I do get results against the big 4 in England as Aston Villa.

If I've got a reasonably succesful tactic, I use the "no pressure" team talk before the game. I don't make any other tweaks. I use the same team talk at half time if we're losing. "You can do it" if drawing, or "for the fans" if winning.

I'm having similar problems with Valencia beating Real and Barca. Being the third team, I'm just not sure what mentality (home and away) the big two use against me and thus I don't know how to counter it.

I find it easier when I'm a smaller team to beat the big three (such as in my B'burn game) because the mentality of the opponents is more obvious, so I can counter it and fork out a result.

My Valencia problem seems similar to your Aberdeen one. Anyone have the solution?

forget formations etc. pick your most athletic side, and throw all creativity out the window. ensure that your playerrs are at least better athletes, so you can play a high closing down/counter/target man game

I beat Liverpool and Man Utd with Birgmingham.

I got saked at Arsenal afte rmy first season (despit winning UCL and coming 4th 9points of 1st place) Due to a board take over wich made Arsenal 3rd Richest team in the World 2mill less than Madrid and only beaten by Barce 100mill more.

So i took over newly promoted Birgmingham for the second season and saved them against relegation. In my first 10 games i beat both Liverpool and Utd with a attacking formation. 4-3-1-1.

My midfield had 2 wide players a DM in the midle and unn as AMC.

All i done was set the team tactics no indevidual.

But it think the key was choosing the rite speech at begining of the game.

Scores wer Birgminham 3-2 Liverpool. Man Utd 1-0 Birgmingham.

Its all about inpiration and a solid tactic not to complex as the smaller teams players are not technicaly skilled enough.
