FM 2007 - Birmingham City Guide - The Real Pride Of The Midlands
[IMG][/IMG]
Birmingham City were formed as Small Heath Alliance in 1875 and have always battled it out with rivals Aston Villa for supremacy in the city. The glory years of the early 1960s, which saw successive Fairs Cup finals against European giants Barcelona and Roma and League Cup success brought the club and their fans much attention. They were in England's third tier for the first time in their history by 1989, but that had a galvanising effect on the Blues and served to renew interest in the team. Former St Andrews favourite Trevor Francis did his utmost to take Birmingham into the FA Premier League, only to be thwarted three times in the play-offs with defeats to Watford, Barnsley and Preston. But with Steve Bruce at the helm, the Blues finally secured their place in the top flight with a penalty shoot-out victory over Norwich City in the First Division play-off final in May 2002.
Steve Bruce will be determined to guide his Birmingham City side back into the Barclays Premiership following their relegation to the Championship this season.

Improvements
Goalkeepers: The goalkeepers are excellent, and you should expect a few offers for Colin Doyle. You might need to sign another keeper for the furutre though.
Defence: All positions are covered well, and despite a few good youth players, experienced cover may be needed, particularly for full-backs. Left Back is most needed in my opinion.
Midfield: Right winger is needed, with only young Neil Danns and David Dunn as reconised wingers, although again, the reserves and youth squads offer alternatives. The centre of midfield is still strong with the addition of Muamba, who is an essential player. Good Youth midfield setup.
Attack: Area most in need of improvement is Attack. With only Jerome and Forssel as the only two good strikers conracted to Birmingham, and Bentdner on loan. A fourth striker is needed. Some good strikers in reserves though with Aluko and Campbell.
My Suggestions
Brian McBride
Sol Davis
Carlos Edwards
I hope that some more people will take on the Birmingham job, and if you do, can you please post any progress or suggestions here to help others aswell!!

Well I did for a bit but then the Northern Ireland league bug wrecked my saved game! I was 1st having won all my games except for 1. I didn't buy anybody - I think the title would be easy with this squad.

I got a lot of free players to begin with, Guardiola, Tsiartas, Ahmed Emrich, Sheringham (useless), Ian Walker and bought Pedro Leon, but he was horrible. Played 4-3-3 with the defensive line of Larsson - Jaidi - Upson - Kelly, midfield of Guardiola, Muamba and Clemence, McSheffrey and Jimmy Smith (loan from Chelsea) as wingers and Jerome up front. Got promoted, Cameron Jerome top goalscorer of the Championship.
Got Cafu and Serginho from Milan on free transfers (both backup), Figo and Babic as wingers, Kiraly and Hilario as back-up goalkeepers, Hossam Ghali, Calum Davenport and Alou Diarra, Sturridge and Vela on loan. Bought Gareth Bale as left back (brilliant). Sort of struggling in the Premiership, but not losing many games.
