After a succesful season in the premiership winning the title and the fa cup, i moved on to my next season with birmingham, winning the community sheild agaist chelsea. i turned down many job offers from many clubs but finally i got one i was interested in, with rafa benitez on his way to valencia liverpool were straight in with offering me the job. i gladly accepted with 7 games gone in the season birmingham in 4th liverpool in 2nd. i won my first game against crystal palace as expected but then came the most dawting challenge. a trip to my old club that i had created from nothing and turned it into a masterpiece of youth with the touch of experience where needed. St. Andrews was beckoning........
On the morning of the game ollie thomas woke finding himself looking at the team sheet of the birmingham city opposition, he was amazed when he finally relised what he had built within his time with birmingham.
he had brought in many supurb youngsters;
enyeama,bale,araujo,van damme,halford,adu,pennant,walcott (walcott on loan) and vela.
adding experience such as kranjcar,mbesuma,samaras,kapo and park ji sung.
all getting them cheap except samaras for 10million pounds.
these were brought in over three summers and two janruary transfer window.
the best signing of all was carlos vela for 3.4million in janruary 2008, he was on loan before that and i thought he would be a great prospect, in the premiership he scored 31 goals and 35 over all, he was the fa cup top goal scorer also. he won the epl golden boot, the birmingham player of the year the european player of the year and the european golden boot awards.
when moving to liverpool ollie thomas set about the task of bringing in carlos vela and gareth bale which was proving tough so far, finding bale would cost over 7million and vela costing around 15million staying just under the 23million pound trasfer kitty.
After the game ollie thomas felt estatic that he has somehow mastered the liverpool team in just a few days and had beaten his former club birmingham city.
He also stated he felt upset leaving birmingham city behind but looks forward to success' under new management at liverpool.
