Just wanted to know if anyone else had any experience managing Wrexham. Took them over in league two and we've popped up to the Championship nicely, only problem is the Directors not allowing me to offer wages that are anywhere near competitive or tranfer budgets in excess of 160k ,despite the fact we have nearly two million in the bank and the club operates under a profit. Anyone else had to cope with their stinginess? Do they loosen the purse strings over time?

You may want to pop up to the forum header to get a feel for the forum. Not only is this forum dedicated to the lower league teams, but it's dedicated to not spoiling the game. That ranges from no tactics to no player naming to no divluging if the Wrexham board will loosen the purse strings. That knowledge might ruin a bit of the fun for some folks.

A better way to ask such a question would be, "Can a small LLM team ever get greatly increased wage & transfer budgets?"

However, feel free to bond with other Wrexham managers over your gripes. Misery does love company down here.

Thinking about this more, if I were the board, I'd loosen the purse strings as the yearly profit & balance increased. If you're making lots of money and seeing no benefit from it, well, I'm sure there are clubs that would be more appreciative to your efforts.

But I only have one decent CM 03/04 save under my belt, so perhaps others can answer from first hand experience.

I started the game as Cambridge city, am playing FM05, brought Cambridge up to the conference but was offered the Job at Wrexham in the second season. Wrexham had just been relelgated and were lounging at the bottom of League 2. Not giving anything away yet? good

The reason I posted was this seemed like the place to post just to hear what other people had thought of their time managing Wrexham.
You don't get much interest in that sort of stuff in the "General Questions" forum.
