To answer some other posts, I don't think it's so much a question of whether Aussies and Kiwis would play in the conferences... that's for the player to decide.

But as a manager, and being the patriotic person I am, I would want to sign Aussie players, and would attempt to (by sending a scout or basing a scout there) whether I had knowledge of players and the league or not.

As a manager, that's what i'd realistically do. I've answered my own question.

And, just out of interest, I haven't had any luck signing an Aussie scout. Because my finances are so healthy, I sent one of my home scouts over for a month, but no luck then. I've now decided that one month of scouting per season, at least until I can sign an Aussie based scout and while cash flow is good, is realistic. That's how I'll be playing it.

Hehe, this thread reminds of a grumpy old zealot I know of... managing (in his own way) in England who would stubbornly scout his native Scotland and insist on persevering with those players north of the border.... in the name of realism.

I couldn’t possibly say where I am now, its inappropriate for this forum. It’s coastal though and the food is good. The paella is great with a splash of good red wine and I’ve always liked dusky looking maidens. So life is ok. I’ve earned this.

Yep, the Frogs came in and offered me the job, I took along my trusty AssMan (never realised you could do this...mind you I've never managed International in FM2005 before...), and so far we've drawn 0-0 away with Estonia.
