I'll go through it again:
Our manager is Northern Irish. More so than Palace's since he was born there. Therefore the adulation you give Dowie is clearly NOT based on his Northern Irishness or you'd be praising Worthington too. Therefore I pointed out that your protestations that it was to do with Dowie's N. Irishness is rubbish, not that being N. Irish is rubbish.

Our manager didn't play for West Ham though, so I think I found my answer

Season 2009/10

Relegated straight back into the Champiosnhip. Been above the dropzone all season but a bad string of results (and lucky wins by other bottom teams) made me drop into the relegationplaces
Finished 19th. Only positive thing is my D R who became Young Player o/t Yearand my backup striker finished 2nd.
Cups suck as we all know, League Cup 2nd round beaten, FA Cup 4th round loss.

Season 2010/11

And we went straight up again. Southampton was by far the best team in the Championship, Charlton were 14 points behind. Didn't have any doubts of getting promoted this season. After a bad start (1 draw and 1 loss) I went into a 28 game unbeaten run wich was ended after a cupgame offcourse
Clinched promotion after 41 games.

League: P46; W27 D15 L4; 96 points; for 87, ag 33.
FA Cup: 5th round exit, lost 2-0 to Middelsburough
League Cup: 4th round, lost to Pompey 2-1.
Apart from a stunning win against EPL side Leeds, every cupgame was followed by a draw or loss in the league, so Cups Suck Arse

Season 2011/12
After the promotion, keeping clear of relegation was the obvious goal. Finishing 8th in the EPL suprised everybody at Charlton, including the manager.
League: 8th
League Cup: 4th round
FA Cup: 5th round
