Just a quick question. I have read the guidelines about transfers and scouting when playing a Lower League game.
However, how does real life scouting equate? Say for example, I watch a conference game, and I see a player that I really like the look of, am I then 'allowed' to pursue him in the game?
Also, reading the papers and internet sites on non league football can be a great resource when scouting and looking for talent, so is it wrong to use this when looking for players in the game?
Let me know your thoughts, and sorry if this has been brought up before. Im fairly new to this LLM lark...
It has been brought up before, but no reason for an apology. You seem to have at least glanced at the header.
Not sure what you mean by real life scouting equate. Are you talking watching a conference game in real life, then going to FM and signing that player. That's a big no for several reasons: prioor knowledge idea, he might not be rated properly in the game according to his RL performances, etc. If you mean "watching" a game on FM and then signing, that's a slight bit more acceptable, if you realistically "view" matches that you could possibly get to, i.e. if you're not playing at the same time and it's not up in the Norf, when you're da souf.
Reading papers and internet can be a great source for getting names, but do you believe those reports or would you rather send the scout whom you hired and "trust" (to a degree).
No and Yes. It is considered that an LLM is an alternative reality, in which offline antics have no influence.
Some question this policy, but I think the simplest way to validate this is to remember that at the lowest levels, most of the players have randomized stats, and are unlikely to correspond to their real-life doppelgangers. In short, real-life scouting isn't going to help you anyway.
GL with your LLaMa experience. And trust me, if you happen to come across that player (please don't name them in here) in your game he'll likely not bear very much resemblance to the one you saw IRL anyway.

Is that a research problem, or an effort by SI to keep things 'random'?
Research. SI would love to have an accurate representation of all players in the league, but this isn't really possible. As it is, they rely on game players who frequent lower league games in real life for information as this thread shows.
