In only 4 seasons, I've already seen both sides of it.
I've seen cup games cost me both condition & morale, making a bad season even worse. And then I saw a very deep League Cup run and a middling FA Cup run net me £2M one year.
So I'm inclined to agree with Pantalones Grande that it's not cups that suck arse, but losing.
