End to Season 2007/2008 - Barnsley League 1

I seem to have joined during an injury crisis. Well 5 of a sqaud of only 19 so my first game against Barnet is an easy team choice (anybody fit). Ends 3-3 (H). Losing 3 goals to Barnet tell me where my problems lie!!! :cool: Throw money at the problem to the tune of £2.9 million over the course of the season for 18 players, selling 6 for £300,000k.

After 3 Games i'm bottom.

After 12 games i'm about 15 points adrift with no wins and only 7 goals scored. Moral is awfull and the board are concerned. I plead for more time

Then suddenly my strikers click and score for fun for the rest of the season. (24 total)

Going into the final game (losing only 2 of final 17) in 21st place on goal difference. Hold on for a 2-1 with 9 men

Final Standings - Pl-46 W-14 D-12 L-20 F-56 A-67 Position 19th

Barnet go down (thanks to me buying their best players) and Gainsbourgh win Conf north (did'nt notice a mangerial vacancy close to the end of the season)

Season 2008/2009 - Barnsley League 1

After losing over 2 million the previous season i decided to take it easy and have faith in the team that went on that amazing end of season run.

4 in for £610,000 to replace the panic buys who didnt work (mostly from Barnet) and 6 out for £450,000

Start well, consistantly in playoff zone and keeping pace with leaders Bolton. Then in Novemeber i splash out £700,000 on a scottish striker who is on loan in my division (10 in 9). Wasnt a serious bid but he agreed to sign. :cool:

The rest of the season see me slowly gain groud on Bolton until i finally overtake then with two games to play. (a 94th minute equalizer saved Bolten losing to Barnsley several games earlier) New signing scores 21 in 31 starts and inpires 22 assists from a winger i've had in my teams since Gains bourgh.

LDV Vans quarer-final - Bolton (A) 3-2
Fa cup third round - Swansea (Ch 1st) A 3-2

Despite my mean defence and taking cups seriously still struggling to make an impact. Constant away ties against good teams in every round don't help. Although promotion is good, losing LDV cup possibility sucks a bit.

Only 1 new signing arriving but £750,000 compensation is needed. Currently got £450,000 bt promotion should see the board approve :thup:new signing. Strong defence and good attack should mean aiming for 10th-14th in championship.

Chelsea buy... i mean win treble and gainsbourgh relegated back to conf north. Barnet 9th in L2

Unfortunatly my Flatmate "tidied up the computer" and deleted my save games so this thread in finished.

Managed to get Barnsly, in first season, to win the Championship but during the close season (with World Class reputation???? ) i jumped to Newcastle who had UEFA cup ambitions.

Was 14th at Christmas, out of UEFA and League cup at first attempt and spend huge amounts of cash on top players who not performing. Was probably going to get sacked anyway
