Default Redbridge or River Plate?

I'm not feeling quite up to the challenge of River Plate just yet, so I have decided to start a career with Redbridge.

Been playing CM since the beginning, but I haven't posted any updates before. Pretty xure I know the rules, so I'll try not to F$@# it up.

Season 2004/05
Started off with a pretty crappy squad, just like most teams in LLaMa LLand I suppose. Signed some frees, way too many as usual, and pretty soon was over my wage budget by a grand.

We had a rather slow start to the season. Took a bit of time for my squad to Gel.

Cups suck arse.
FA Cup - 2nd Qualifying round
FA Trophy - 1st round

Languished mid to lower table for most of the year, before finding a bit of form for the run home, including a 6-1 win at home to Lewes in game 37 and then a 4-1 win away at Maidenhead in game 38. Had to win the last four to have a chance of playoffs but two 2-2 draws saw me drop 4 important points. Last game of the season turned out to be pointless, but the boys showed signs of things to come next season with a 5-0 drubbing away to Carshalton.

Played: 42
Won: 20
Drew: 10
Lost: 12
G For: 70
G Ag: 43
GD: +27
Points: 70

Final Position 6th, just two measly points outside the playoffs.

Season 2005/06

Made some more signings, and soon realised I'd have to trim my squad dramatically. Started the season about $160k in the red, and kept going downhill fast.

I have realised that I have way too many midfielders in my squad...some of them will never get a game. I have also managed to accumulate 7 goalkeepers. All I need to do now is figure out which one can stop the ball.

Was feeling very confident this season due to my strong finish at the tail end of last season.

Won my first game, then DLLDLL.

5 points from 7 games.

Cups still sucked arse.
FA Cup - 3rd Qual Rnd
FA Trophy - 1st Rnd (again).

After getting turfed out of the cups my form changed, and only lost 1 game from Mid November to mid March, by which time I was perched precariously at the top of the table.

The boys seemed to do their best to try and throw the title on the run home, drawing games we should have won. But luckily for me no one else wanted to move up a division also. Won the last game of the season to keep our three point buffer in tact. Conference Nationals...here we come.

Played: 42
Won: 23
Drew: 11
Lost: 8
G For: 59
G Ag: 27
GD: +32
Points: 80

Champions by 3 points.

Seaon 2006/07

From all reports it looked like it could be a promising season. Bookies had us as possibles to go down, but me and my staff thought otherwise. There's nothing like confidence.

LDLDLDLLDLDLD

Great start to the campaign, and I was sitting bottom with 6 points from 13 games.

Finally got my first win for the season, but it was in the replay of the 4th round Qualifying FA Cup away to Alfreton so it didn't ease my pain.

Finally had my first win two league games later, then thought I'd change my midfield a bit and played one my "never to be played" midfielders, cause he had a decent pass on him and a bit of pace.

Turned my season around.

Shot up the table, and while I was never going to make the playoffs, ended up being pretty pleased with the result.

The newly promoted Midfielder was sold to Cardiff for $500k, and I was suddenly in the black as well. All round a successful season, and the run of form at the tail end (once again) showed that we might be able to stir things up here next season.

Cups suck Arse but not quite so much as before.
FA CUP - 3rd round 1-0 loss away to Charlton
FA Trophy - 4th Round

Played: 42
Won: 14
Drew: 14
Lost: 14
G For: 60
G Ag: 46
GD: +14
Points: 56

Final position of 11th.

Thanks to the sale of my midfielder I now have a bit of cash in the kitty. I have been trying to cull my wages a bit, and have managed to get it down to about 1.5k over.

(That's pretty good for me, by the way!)

Good to the point updates and by the looks of it a good start to LLM life.

Another Redbridge thread
So far you seem to copy my career with RFC, although I finished 7th in my first season. I didn't relegate in my first Conf. Nationwide season thanks to my goaldifference.

Season 2007/08

On the back of my strong finish last season, felt confident of a playoff place. Board and bookies expected Mid Table obscurity.

Things started well enough, but the team never felt "right". The squad was strengthened in the Midfield with a shrewd purchase of an unwanted midfielder from a few leagues up. We would win a few, then we'd lose a few. One week we played like we should have been up two divisions, the next we looked like were a team of 8 year olds!

The defence was weakened a bit due to a bid for my star defender that I couldn't turn down. Realising we weren't holding them as well as we should, I did the only logical thing I could do. Spent some of my ever growing transfer coffers on a 22y.o English Striker that one of my scouts found me.

That did the trick. Went on an 11 game unbeaten run.

With 9 games to go in the league we were in 2nd, but we were 13 points adrift of Margate. I looked at the previous tables for the league and saw that Margate were motoring compared to the seasons prior. Looked as though I would be doing battle in the playoffs.

Margate then sold their best defender, and went on a shocking run. With two games to go I had moved to two points behind. Had a sneaking suspicion that if I won my last two games I'd go up. Drew the 2nd last game against Exeter ( ) 1-1, after having a player sent off, and finishing the game with 9 men after using all my substutions (while going for the win) and then getting an injury with 10 minutes to go. Thought we'd blown it, but Margate drew as well.

Down to the last day of the season away to 5th places Carlisle. My right back got sent off in the 26th minute, and I was 2-0 down after 65 minutes. The boys managed to salvage a draw, and damn near won it at the death. But it was not to be. Bit dissapointed with the result. But the lads showed great fightback to level the scores.

Looked at the results to find that Margate had lost. We moved level on points, and had a much better goal difference.

Champions!!!!!

Here we go

Cups Suck Arse.
FA Cup - 4th Qual Round
LDV Vans - 1st round
FA Trophy - 5th round

Margate won't be joining me in L2 next year. That honour goes to Leyton O

Interestingly, Tottenham have signed as manager an ex German International Striker who played for them.
