Was a bit worried at the start of this campaign, as my team was starting to look a bit thin. I signed another defender, and another left winger. Both went into the starting line up. Ended up selling my Central Midfielder (again) as I couldn't resist the cash, and had two other players who were almost as good anyway.
Had to re sign some of my star players just to increase their minimum release clause. So I was once again over wage budget. Had 850k for transfers, but no decent players would come, so I signed a few young blokes to develope again.
Cups suck ar$e as always.
FA Cup - first round
League Cup - first round
LDV Vans - South Quarter final
Team managed to do okay at the start, and I was hovering in the playoffs, usually in third. Sometimes I'd drop to fifth, sometimes I'd jump to second for a week. Looked as though I'd finish 3rd or 4th 8 games out, but WBA, Preston, and especially Wigan all hit poor form. Wigan at one point were 8 points clear, but ended up in sixth at the end of the season.
I had my share of poor results also by drawing against teams I fell we could have beaten. But I clinched Playoffs 5 games out, Auto Promotion 3 games out, and ended up winning the division with 2 games to go.
As you can see I drew a fair few games. Most of the draws came against the relegation battlers. Bizarre. Longest winning streak was only 5, but longest unbeaten streak was 16!!!!!
WBA finished 2nd, and Wednesday from fourth went up via playoffs.
I have decimated my transfer funds for next season. A quick 220k here for a defensive midfielder, and 800k there for another striker, and before you know it I got Nuffink Left! Still have 1.5m in the bank though.
Wages have also increased. They are now a wopping 32k/week. Already over of course, but only by 1.6k
Stadium is still 2500, with 140 still getting to sit down.
I asked them to expand it last season or the season before, and they said "We already told you we are going to expand the statium." (or something like that). I assumed that this meant it would be done.
I then requested it again this time, and they say they can't afford it.
Is this a bug? Or did they lie to me to tempt me to stay on another season?
Anyway, we'll see what the Championship brings. Wish me luck.
Was really worried about this season - My scouts came back with bugger all, no one wanted to sign for me, and I couldn't afford anyone half decent anyway (wages wise).
Interesting season. Once again I signed everything that moved that would come my way, including an excellent Defensive Midfielder who was unhappy in the Hull Reserves. He replaced my former Def Mid who was the heart and soul of my team, and turned in some excellent performances. Tried to find a partner for my all conquering attacker who had banged in 25 or more goals in three consecutive seasons, but couldn't find the right player. Splashed out 800k on a dutch striker to partner him who ended the season with 15 goals, but he was a bit hit and miss. He'd score two in a game, then get a four rating the next.
Had to fiddle with the defence a bit as well. The step up in class exposed them in the pace department, so I rotated my defences a bit trying to find the right pairing. The season Probably wasn't helped when my Goalkeeper decided he should move on the greener pastures, so he was promptly sold for 1.1m to Hull. He was good, but he wasn't THAT good!
Started with a 3-4 loss away to Rotherham. Cracker of a game, but my leaky defence had me worried. Won the next 4-1 at home to Walsall, then a 1-0 win on the road to Wolves. Gave me just enough false optimism for my next 6 games, (of which I lost 5). Nothing to do but put faith in my team and see if they could handle it. By Christmas we were firmly entrenched in Mid table obscurity, going as high as 11th, and sometimes dropping to 17th. In February, 8-10 points shy of the playoffs, Crystal Palace came calling. I think someone else had just passed up my generous offer of playing in a crap team for no money, so in frustration I accepted the job. They were just above the Premiership relegation zone by 2 points, but they had a decent enough squad that I thought I could keep them safe, and so I bit the bullet and left my (and Emmenaar's) beloved Redbridge. The chairman wished me well and appreciated my loyalty (which was nice). By the end of the season they still hadn't found a replacement, but the assistant manager didn't do too badly, guiding them to a finish of 15th, just 8 points outside the last playoff place. When I left we had a goal difference of +2, when they finished it was -5. I have a feeling they won't be pushing for the Premiership next year.

Oh, and despite the recent rumblings suggesting otherwise, CUPS SUCK ARSE, so I'm not even going to bother with telling you what happened.
2010/2011 - Premiership Football - Crystal Palace (Last 10 Games)!
Took over the side in 17th place. Buth the side was not too shabby. The defence was a bit slow for my liking, and I realised I'd been left with one fit keeper two days after the transfer window had closed, but the midfield had some steel and flair about it, (including a winger who likes to Drink n Drive) and the attack wasn't too bad, although the best striker was injured and on the whole it may have lack a bit of pace.
The club however was 180k/week over wage budget. Nothing to do but play out the season, try and add some pace to the squad in the off season, and see if I can somehow reduce that debt.
Finshed the season with a 4w-2d-4L record. The team is a bit susceptible at the back, but with some smart buys in the off season I am quietly confident.
