Well numbas, LLM is not about playing with a lower league team. It's about playing in a fashion that is most realistic. Stepping down from Europe to Burton is not realistic, is it? Earning 36500 per week down there isn't either, is it?
Have a read at the guidelines and the header to find out, what we crazy bunch are about. If you think you'd fit in with us zealots, go ahead. Maybe you even start a fresh game for that. If you think you were wrong going here, and you disagree with what we do and think, no problem either. You can play your game in any fashion you want to. After all, you paid money for it. In this case though, we don't want to hear it.
Cheers.

The whole idea about starting with a top team then dropping divisions is that your reputation exceeds the club's reputation. This results in you being able to bring in better players than the other managers in the same league.
Thus, it makes the lower leagues easy to go through. LLM is about struggle and relegation battles (well, it always is for me) not easily progressing through the leagues.

Numbas: the reason people from upon "start with bigboy, win loads, then go down to lower leagues" is two-fold:
1) It's unrealistic on the count of starting at the top, and on the count of then being successful there and dropping down;
2) it distorts your achievements lower down: With your reputation you can attract vastly better players than anybody else in your league, making the game too easy.
Playing in the true spirit of Llama is not easy. It relies on your ability to get the best out of nothing: No editors, no using-knowledge-of-previous-saves, signing only players scouted by your scouts, etc.
From what I've read on these forums (and I stalked them for quite some time before I posted) the guys playing this way want to keep it this way, which is why occasionally people take slightly aggressive lines about preserving the "sanctity" of their ways.
And I'm starting to become infected |

And anyway, your wages will soon drive poor Burton bankrupt. And you don't want to do that.

i have, i have said i have.
to all: yeah sounds good. although i suspect i will find it enormously difficult to retire from my current acheivments. I, too, play in an entirely realistic manner, no d/l's or nothing. even my results over time are realistic dispite my employment for manchester united originally.
we'll se but i am intrigued by this community. i appreciate the way you have treated me, you could have thrown the book at me and such |
