The MLS is indeed a strange league. Plus they play in stadiums that are way to big for their interest in much case, so it looks like nobody goes to the games. Quality of football is improving, though, and I have seen some entertaining games lately. Unfortunatly ESPN has recently stopped showing MLS games on Saturday in place of Woman's billards or some such nonsense...

To answer some of my own questions:

About the subs, the home team appears to get a bench of 9 subs, while the away team gets to have only 5.
On the other hand, actually pretty decent of these MLS-chaps to keep transportation costs low.

Wow, that is a stupid rule! About as dumb as the whole Transisitonal International rule. And they wonder why soccer doesn't catch on here (in the US). It is because of silly rules like this...

What's so silly about the rule? It's ultimately harmless. It's not as if the home team gets to make more substitutions. They've got a few more people on the bench and maybe some younger player who doesn't always make the squad gets a chance to sit on the bench and depending on the situation he might get to play whereas ordinarily he wouldn't.

I can't see how this damages or prevents soccer from catching on here in the U.S. Heath. Older rules such as the shootout and such, that I'd agree with, but this rule surely isn't keeping people from MLS.
