A land that normally I wouldn’t consider playing in, but I have decided I will, for a good old laugh(and the fact Frank chose it). I(Frank) choose Persekaba Badung from the First Division West in Indonesia. Famous for the recent tsunami and probably not a lot more to my knowledge, there football isn’t much to be expected of I guess. I have yet to hear of any Indonesian team making a big signing or the country’s national team making it to the world cup, so their footballing ability may lack, so this could be a tough, tough ride.
With the German, English and Indonesian leagues (I learnt from other games to have more than one country) all running, I could easily jump ship back to Europe if needed.
As soon as I got to the club looked at my finances, sorted out wage bill, so it was some what less, sent my scouts out around Oceania and Indonesia, to unearth some talent. I set the team out with a basic formation, that I felt should conquer the league, but after the first game I knew I couldn’t conquer it. Yes I lost it nicely. Not saying the score as I feel embarrassed by it.
These leagues are confusing so I will try my best to explain them. There are 12 teams in the league, top three go into group stages and three get relegated. Not much chance of staying in the division really, but you can try. 3 teams from each of the two first divisions play in 2 different groups, where the top teams gets promoted automatically. Second place goes into a play off, to see who else gets promoted.
The team is an average team, not a lot of staff or squad depth either, so every penny of the transfer budget would have to go towards making the club great (or just getting us promoted would do, in an ideal world).
In the first season after long hard battles on and off the field we came away with third place. We qualified for the group stage at least. We then went on to finish second after an opening loss, then a win. We then went into the play off final and play our hearts out, counter attacking and surfing luck all the way to the finish line. We ended up winning 3-1 and got promoted into the premiership. Next season will probably kill us though, and a nice drop to reality.
At last count for the sea I managed to scout 3 country’s/regions, and sign a total of 4 players. Many more are needed for the new season if I am to try staying up.
