SEASON 11- MID SEASON UPDATE

With another season underway with St Mirren I was very hopeful after running Rangers then Celtic close in the last 2 years and another crack at the CL on our doorstep. At that time there was only 1 job in the world I would leave St Mirren for. Not Barcelona, AC Milan or Manchester United. Glasgow Celtic. So when they offered me the chance to fulfill my boyhood dreams, off I went.

Another update at the end of the season...

SEASON 11- 2011/12

So here I was at Celtic and suddenly some new challenges. I spend some really serious money but still at first felt unhappy that the squad wasn't quite right. I won the league but wasn't great elsewhere.

SPL: Champs, well ahead of Rangers but still dropping a few points here and there.

SC:Finalists, but beaten 2-0 by Rangers.

LC: Out when I arrived.

CL: 2nd group stage where Dortmund just pipped us for the QF spot.

Not a terrible season but I have so much more to hope for next year...

SEASON 12- 2012/13

Yet more expensive signings and a great start to the league campaign allows us some breathing space and the chance to concentrate in Europe. Oh how important it would prove to be.

SPL:Champs, a whole 21 pts ahead of runners up, Motherwell.

SC:

LC:All that let us down, losing to Aberdeen in the semi's with a shock 3-0 win for the Dons.

CL:Despite being slightly shaky in the 2 group stages, we proceed to knock out Inter Milan and then Barcelona to reach a historic final. We are to face AC Milan, incredibly in the exact same stadium the famous Lisbon Lions won the big cup 36 years earlier.

A confident display after a 16th minute goal meant we were once again Champions of Europe to my delight.

Hopefully more success to report next year...

Sorry about the Scottish Cup mistake...

SC:An exhausted Celtic side see off Kilmarnock on pens after a 1-1 draw to secure an historic treble.

If only we hadn't lost at Aberdeen in the league cup...
