Wing_Co, there's obviously nothing wrong with Exeter. It's just that a lot of guys who were starting unemployed were being offered their job under some FM patch, resulting in one update thread on them per day at some point.

To be fair, Exeter isn’t the most realistic place to start. It is obviously more real to start in the bottom league possible with a more unattractive club. But if you’re having a stab at LLM then I don’t see much wrong with things as long as you play realistically. It’s hardly River Plate. I’m just suggesting thinking outside of the rules a little… otherwise this all becomes LLM by numbers….. and then maybe a bit dull. If I was an Exeter fan I would definitely start there…. Or maybe I would start in the league below and wait till the job came up. Either way it’s my game, and I’m not spoiling anyone else’s.

There still seems to be a distinction between guys who focus on developing a LL club and those who play in a more character / career kinda way. Generally seems to boil down to the jump / don't jump argument.

I've gone down the career route in my first LLM stab - jumped when possible and realistic. I suspect you have to be a bit more talented - and patient - to take a tiny club all the way.

Yr spot on. Questions that just want to know what the rules are and think that’s all it is.... This place is good cos it’s the only forum where you can read without “your” game being spoiled. Its not about rules. I have never asked anyone how I should play my game.... and neither have you Iaj. If you have to ask …. etc etc
