I've just started a new game in the Swiss Challenge league. Wanted to take a Liechtenstein team up the top. Now I got a few questions. Are they really considered LLM as they got a very impressive budget and play in the UEFA Cup (preliminary round) as well? Also has anyone ever been promoted with them as I know the Swiss rules do not allow the Liechtenstein teams to get promoted to the Super League?

If they're in the lowest playable league in Switzerland, then I suppose they're LLM, but LLaMas tend to avoid even those teams if they're budget is too big (Gretna ).
They have another saying around here - if you have to ask, you probably already know the answer to that one......
I didn't know the budget issue before I took over .

Fair enough.
I'd ask yourself this then - is it really a challenge, or am I going to be the big boy in the playground from the first day?
Also, I'd say it depends on how much CM/FM you've played before. If you're an experienced player, then perhaps you need something more exacting, if not it might be a good introduction to LLM.
Personally I wouldn't be happy if I started with loads of cash and an easy ride to promotion, but everyone's different.
Why I actually took them over is to try and get a Liechtenstein team to European glory. So we'll see if this becomes too easy then I'll choose another team. I usually like taking very small towns/villages to glory. And I play LLM a lot just don't post here as much unfortunately
Interestingly, I tried playing as FC Vaduz before, and even on 'Huge' db, all their Liechtensteiner players were not included in the game as the DB considers that too small a nation to add players for (except their Grasshopper's Goalie) This was with Swiss and Austrian leagues fully active. So I actually think it is a cheat, as (unless it has been patched - this was all not long after FM cameout) unless you breach Llama Law ("Thou shalt not use the retain players from nations option when creating a save game") you have a massive budget and no players, meaning you only need sign whom you need and don't have to deal with the usual useless dross. I also think I may have had problems registering such a small squad for the European games as well and had to go on holiday and let the ass man deal with it.
Interestingly talking of FC Vaduz and their possible non admittance to the Swiss top flight and their seemingly permenant qualification for Europe, and going completely off topic.
What would happen if one of the Welsh Clubs (Cardiff, Swansea, Wrexham, Newport e.t.c) qualified for Europe through the English league or cups? I only ask because they are still Welsh FA members and (in the past at least) have qualified for Europe in the past through the Welsh Cup (indeed, Merthyr Tydfil competed in the 1987 Cup Winners Cup despite being in the Southern League!) And in 1989 Hereford won the Welsh cup, but Wrexham qualified for the cup winners cup because Hereford weren't Welsh!
Anyone know or am I going to have to ask Guardian Unlimited?
Point of order; it is the Football Association of Wales, not the Welsh FA.
In the (still theoretical, unfortunately) event of Cardiff "qualifying" for Europe through an "English" competition, it is possible that the FA could simply not nominate them to UEFA for that place (remember, finishing in a European spot does not qualify you by right to enter the competition, the FA makes its nominations each year; but they would look silly nominating Southampton for the Champions league instead of Chelsea!). In practice, I believe that the FA would put forward Cardiff as one of its nominations.
