I've been watching this forum for a few days now.

I just got FM08.

Before the Beta patch I was hopeless (I suppose I should note I haven't played a Football Manager sim for years now).

I downloaded the patch and things looked better. I was still crap though, I was managing Haverfordwest in the Welsh Premier League and I got sacked within two months.

I then transferred to an ailing St Albans side, just out of the relegation zone. When I took over I went 7 games unbeaten. I wasn't winning games though, I was drawing them.

In came the Summer break of 2008. I managed somehow to persuade the board to get a parent club for us. Funnily enough Chelsea offered, I now have 4 Chelsea Under 18 players on loan to me, with Chelsea paying St Albans 29k a month.

My financial situation is good and have had a bouyant pre season period. I did just Lose 4-1 to Coventry City though.

I'm looking forward to my first Blue Square South game against Worcester.

What am I getting at I hear you ask?

Well sometimes you have to look away from problems with the game. Look at your managerial skills. You might have been the king before, but I am led to believe that FM08 has more factors throughout the game now. I am absolutely hooked on this game because it is so DAMN difficult and after years of completing simulators and games with such unrealistic ease it is an absolute joy to be getting frustrated with the last minute equaliser by Sutton Utd.
