I've successfully installed dozens of facepacks & backgrounds, which have been working fine until today. All of a sudden they seem to have gone, why would this happen?
I've tried re installing them but can't get them back.

What checks have you made?

I tried to install a new skin earlier, would this have overwritten everything else?

Where exactly are all your graphics? What directory?

The new skin, Did you unzip it first?

Ok, my graphics are all in CDocuments and Settings\user name\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008\, and all appeared instantly in the game when I ticked the Always Reload Skin On Confirm box. I then attempted to install a skin(which I'm now trying to remove but cannot find)which i unzipped. Since this happenned I've lost all my graphics, and am desperate to retrieve them. The frustrating thing is I can see them all in my directory, but can't get them back into the game.

Skins go into:

My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008/Skins

Now it seems maybe you have put your skin in another directory in the sports interactive folder.

I would find the skin, Take the skin out and reload the game, see what happens.

I know this may sound daft, But in the process of Ticking Always Reload Skin, You didn't by chance also Tick Skin Cache box as well?
