Short passing game as long as Midfield has sufficient passing skills?
There were some particular words from Vaughan in his Hints & Tips about passing[, that caught my attention. Let me quote him:
If you’ve got a midfielder posse who would give the Real Madrid midfield a run for their money, then you’ll be in a good position to use a Short or Mixed passing tactic to good effect. However, your midfield are more likely to be a bunch of muppets, so have them long ball it for all they’re worth
Why does he mention the Midfield in particular, and only the midfield?
I have a guess here; Midfield is the creative force, and thus are able to convert the passes into goal chances, and therefore need better skills than average of the pitch. At least for the short passing game. I have played Fisher for 1.5 season, and I have mainly used [b]short[/] passing (1), with great success. My midfield has been okay (I guess). The defenders has mostly had poor passing skills, but still I have been able to hold possession in most games (50% or more).
I think the short passing game is less dependant on the Defenders passing-skilsl since it is (usually) easy to make a pass between defenders due to lack of many enemy players pressing them.
Anyway, this reading from Vaugahn has encouraged me to continue my short passing game with Fisher!

Short passing game as long as Midfield has sufficient passing skills? Post #2
When I said that midfield has been "ok" I meant in terms of "ok" for being able to play the short passing game.
Nothing spectacular, nothing uber, just plain "ok", or average.
Maybe my english skill is so poor that it makes me difficult to understand....?
If so, I am sorry.
