It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

having done some research on that matter I must say that hard tackling (might go without saying for some of you) is quite dangerous with a low tackling stat. I have tried the same position with hard tackling and different players. 3 players who had 15 and above tackling, had a few yellow cards, no sending off.

1 player who had 13 tackling got 3 red cards and several yellow

2 players with below 10 tackling didn't cope at all, got a few red cards, lots of yellow, but more importantly, they missed their tacklings which resulted in getting more goals.

This was tested over the course of a season, including pre-season, against opposition of various levels. I tried to keep a good alternation of tackling level, so I have good, mediocre, bad tackling against each level of competition, in order to keep this test somewhat valid.

I have done this a while ago, so I won't be able to give you detailled information anyomre, unless I wrote it down somewhere... it was on 7.0.2 though

Don't just look at tackling - look at the mental attributes, especially determination, bravery and aggression.

e.g. if a player is not particularly brave, he'll pull out of far more tackles, so you might need to fire him up.

If he's aggressive you might not want him going all out psycho nutter, especially if he can't tackle.

Also remember that some players have high dirtiness.

It wasn't really cards I was eluding to, it was more what was best against people like Cristiano Ronaldo etc who have flair. If you're players are hard tackling against them he could skip past them easily. That's not to say I don't hard tackle, my CM's and DM's always are, the rest of the team (except strikers) are usually normal.
