Yes mate I also have this problem. It really annoy's me. for every 3 shots the other team has on target they score 2 goals. this happens whether i have zonal marking, man marking, deep defensive line etc.

At times I feel like throwing the pc out of the window.

But then I go 6 or 7 games and don't let in a goal despite more shots on target. Ahhhhhhhh

It is frustrating at times, I think I am a good FM manager but I am struggling to meet the boards expectations with Leeds which for some reason are to win the league!
Although to be fair, I did play a few seasons with Chelsea and found it too easy

First off, don't get me wrong, I agree with a lot of the points in this thread thus far. However, I constantly hear the bickering of people saying they can't spend half an hour on tactics... in that case, your schedule is clearly too full and you shouldn't be playing games anyway.

It is feasible to construct a tactic in half an hour that will last 2 or 3 seasons, successfully. But no, people would rather spend their time clicking continue, doing poorly, and then moaning about not having the time to spend on their tactics! Even if you only have time to play in 30minute bursts, you could just spend the first building a tactic, and the rest on a successful season.

It's nothing personal against you Dan, but sometimes it really gripes me how people moan that they don't have the time to make a tactic, when they have time to play the game in the first place! If you don't do the tactic, what do you do in the game? The tactics are the integral role of the player - they are your interface with which to beat the game or not. It's like me picking up a copy of GTA and asking someone else to complete it for me. What's the point?

The late goals are always a joke .. you see it flash up " ... such and such are giving themselves more attacking options .. " or see the ridiculous 424 formation, before you get the chance to change anything .. flash flash flash .. makes me wonder : If they were THAT good and can seemingly score at will against you whether home or away, why not play that way from the start?

The amount of times you see the worst team in the league suddenly playing like Brazil when its the last 10 minutes and they need a goal is laughable ... yet try changing it yourself when you need a goal in the last 10 and nothing happens ..

The simple fact is, this is been the same problem in FM for years and its never addressed - but when you listen to some people on here, based on their theories, 75% of teams in real life would struggle to score each week .. yet they don't have a problem .. Yes, its a game, but at least make the most important aspect of it realistic ..

Could you imagine this irl... your players missed lots of chances today Sir Alex, better read the tactics bible tonight!

Also how people keep saying SI are following the 'realism' route. What would Sir Alex think of having to choose one of 5 phrases for his teamtalk week in week out??? </BLOCKQUOTE>

Eh? 'In real life' none of us would get the chance to be in these situations we're discussing anyway...

And the point my lazy post was trying to address was that as this is a scenarios that has been raised in these forums before, people have tried to provide a solution - or at least some insight into why this situation might happen.

I can categorically state I have not suffered from this type of game scenario/situation in the quantity that many on here talk about, so I disagree that you have to spend aaaages building a tactic to do well. I've tried some of the complicated analytical tactical theories and setups proposed in these forums and had little success.

I prefer to create tactics based on how I feel the game should be played (based on various contributory factors, player quality etc) and certain nuances i've picked up on in terms of how the game plays and 'what works in the game'.

Like many who have played every game in the series (inc from the early CM days on the Amiga) its also difficult for me to judge the game from a new player's point of view, so I can't really comment on how it plays for novices, however there's many a report on here (backed up by mods and SI staff) that the game can be played successfully with the default tactics and minimal tweaking...

And remember, just because lots of people post on this thread complaining about this situation - it doesn't mean it happens to everyone

How come your opponents switch to 4-2-4 and you click on the tactics button but must wait on the ball going out of play, or stopping which occasionally results in a lost goal. When you should be able to approach the touchline and shout intructions so your team adapts to them immediatley.
