Does anyone have a suggestion on what qualities to look for in a player that may make him a good candidate to challenge the keeper on attacking corners (besides the obvious height, good heading, and good jumping)?
I had in mind aggressiveness and a lack of dirtiness (so that he make clean headers and be careful not to foul), but I'm not sure.

Strength is important as well as positioning.

Whilst I'm aware that the concensus of this forum is that a good, strong header of the ball is the best choice, I beg to differ.
In real life, the player that challenges the goalkeeper is, more often than not, a shorter player whose good at poaching - a Craig Bellamy, Jermaine Defoe type of player. I've had reasonable success trying to emulate this. By having a small player challenging the goalkeeper, I find that I score a lot of rebounds. It also frees up another decent header of the ball to attack the cross.

bravery is also important don't forget.
Alan Smith for example would try to win many headers.
