Yesterday, I've had a nice League Cup 3rd round fixture away at Anfield with my Norwich side. I didn't expect much besides the income but I was rather surprised when I found myself dominating the game, creating more chances than the opposition and easily winning the game 2-0 away.
Not believing it, I checked the side that played against me, and found out that they had fielded no single player who had played a competition game this season. It was all a bunch of no-hopers and youngsters. The first teamers were all match-fit though.
Has anyone ever seen the AI do this before? I've had absolutely no idea that this is possible. I like it though because a victory against Liverpool () was great for morale. Cups do not suck ass then.
Although there were no lower league teams involved(Ac Milan - me and Inter Milano the AI) it happened to me once.I was having two consecutive games with them .One in the championship(where i still had chances and the not) and one in the champions league final. They rested all their first team players in the championship game and played with the full squad in the Champions League final(luckily i beat them also in the championship and also in the CL final). So it is possible.Sorry if i broke any rule,i am very new around i am currently halfway with a lower club in charge but i play very slowly(lack of time) so you will have to wait until i post an update thread(if i will be allowed to do it).
SI have modelled this quite well. Liverpool (), Arsenal and Man Utd often field second strings in the League Cup. Chelsea and most of the others do not. Just like real lifeā¢
I saw that happend many many times in Finland. Specially when you play in a lower division. Higher division teams, tend to rest their first teamers in cup matches.
It's only happened to me once in about a hundred seasons that i've played under FM. Maybe it's just my luck, but all EPL teams i've faced over the years in the cups have fielded full strength squads, no matter what i league i was in.
