Okay... IRL, brazilian league does not work exactly like in FM.
But let's go to Third Division issues...
Since you are in a D3 team, there are only two possibilities regarding the state champinships:
1. Your team is from a state that has not produced a single piece of good football during the last 500 years:
That leads to you being virtually oblied to winning the State champ, because it will give you a good (or not) money income, and an average reputation.
2. Your team is from a state that has strong and historical teams:
As for that, you are only in the state championship so that the big teams can get at least a few wins each. It is usually decided between the big clubs, but if you manage to reach the final levels it's gonna be a lot of money.
As for Brazilian Cup, the champion gets a spot in Copa Libertadores, but it's a little hard. Once in my games I've seen a D3 team win it, though.
Now comes the strange part: Third Division itself.
In FM, there are 16 groups of 8 teams each. You'll play against each of them twice, and at the end, the first two of each group get to the 2nd round and the last two are relegated. Then, those 32 teams will play 3 consecutive eliminatory rounds, until there are left four teams only.
These four teams will form a group, and play 6 matches each. The first two will get promoted to Second Division.
IRL, things are completely different from FM in all divisions. I can explain how it works IRL, but would be kinda useless to your gaming purposes.

Yes. Third division is very hard, probably the hardest in Brazil. There are 128 teams fighting for 2 spots...

That's the problem (and the reason to be shame, as I see it).
In Brazil, a country with continental area, we have only 3 divisions. Completely stupid, heh??

No not stupid! Because if Division 3 is like that, i really don't know how they will organize a division 4!!!!
Maybe each state is split up into more regions?? and then .....ahhh forget it. |

And all this form someone who lives in a county where football is a game where you punch and kick an oval ball through one of three goals for 6 or 1 point. At least they know what football is!! |
