Default I left my heart in Sutton...

After finally starting a proper LLM game and managing to resist the temptation of free transfer lists et al I have manged to get a few seasons done...

Season 1 2004/2005

Sutton United Conference South.

Took over my local club Sutton United in the Conference South. No money for wages or transfers. 2 strikers had great seasons though and managed to get me into 3rd place getting into the playoffs and winning the final.
Cups sucked ars3 and failed to win a single match.

2005/2006

Sutton United Conference National.

Reinforced the squad with some young players on frees. In particular picked up 1 very talented young DMC and an experienced AMC. Squad struggled though and we finished a respectable 12th whilst getting together a bit of cash and clearing out some of the overpaid deadwood in the squad.
Lost to Woking in the FA and League Cups after very limp performances.

In the off season I bizarrely got offered 3 jobs in League 2 (they must have a "thing" for mediocre non-league no-names) and failked to resist the big name of Cambridge United and their long ball legacy. They finished 1 off relegation last year so it looked like another battle...

2006/2007

Cambridge United League 2.

Life at Cambridge started really well picking up some free kids and a pretty decent AML coming back from a long term injury. We won the 1st 4 games and kept winning until february. We then managed to lose 7 games out of 8 but limped over the line in 3rd place and automatic promotion to league 1.
FA cup saw us get beat by Luton and league cup was an extra time loss to Notts County. LDV saw us get to the southern quarters only to get twatted by Yeovil 4-0.

Managed to sign an experienced Spanish DMC and a French SC among other youth prospects ahead of next seasons struggle.

2007/2008

Cambridge United League 1.

This season was a nightmare from beginning to end. My squad was vastly undertalented and far too small. We were bottom at xmas but a formation change meant we pulled together enough points to secure our safety in our penultimate game and finish 2 points from the drop!
Managed a decent run in the FA cup but got beat in the 3rd round by a poor Fulham. League cup saw us lose to Blackburn and the LDV was a shameful rolling over to Scunny.

I asked the board for more cash for wages after it was clear we needed strengthening and flushed with confidence gave them an ultimatum after the usual denial. They sacked my sorry ass. Thats me told.

2008/2009

After waiting 12 weeks for a sniff of a new job I got taken on at Lancaster in league 2 only for the same afternoon West Ham to offer me a contract after slipping down to league 1. Needless to say, I grabbed it with both hands and got ready to splash the cash.

West Ham League 1.

I manged to actually spend a couple of hundred grand and get some decent free players in from free transfers. The league was no great shakes but I managed to sneak 2nd and get promotion at the 1st attempt. We were by far the biggest team and had the best squad but the board and fans demanded winning the league so it was no walkover.
In particular my AML from Cambrodge was the star amongst a host of decent young players.
No cup wins at all after I sent the youth team out. Lost to Pompey (FA), Blackburn (League) and Bristol Rovers (LDV)

2009/20010

Only reached March so far but we seem to have fallen on our feet. We are 2nd in the league behind a runaway Bolton and look set ofr the big time. My young squad seem to be growing into their roles and we have even beaten premiership Burnley in the FA cup although losing to 9 man Chelski 5-0 brought us back down to earth. League cup saw our reserves get beat in the 3rd round by Spurs.

Still waiting for our usual late season collapse though. And it looks like a lot of players leaving in the summer. They all think theyve outgrown the club...
