From Poland to Austria to Germany to England. Cosmo goes the world.
After quite some time, I finally found myself enjoying a game of FM. (Well, I had enjoyed it earlier, but I didn't have the time to play it).
Anyway, I am now in my 4th season, so it's time to start the update.
I loaded up the English leagues only, and my wife picked Vauxhall Motors for me. Decent colours, crappy squad, and the task to get safe from relegation.
No transfer budget, so I relied on some loanies and free transfers, and thanks to some of them we secured another year in Conf. North (18th). Conceded 76 goals though.

Wage bill (that was really low anyway) got reduced again, my players wouln't sign again, and after some games, Div2 side Wycombe Wanderers wanted me. After some consideration and doublechecking my a.) squad b.) wage budget and c.) transfer kitty, I accepted.
Alki was kind enough to tell me how to pronounce Wycombe correctly, and after a pretty good spring we ended up 6th. Some luck in the playoffs (including a last minute winning goal in extra time of the semi finals) brought us promotion to Div 1. Squad was pretty weak though since the wages were very high (related to the budget) and the transfer kitty was only 7k. Annoying, especially keeping in mind that I had to compete one level higher next season.

Eventful season. Chairman is a sick bastard and gave us only 13k for transfers. Without strengthening, we found ourselves struggling in the relegation zone after 20 matches. Fortunately, the scouts had found some guys who were available on loan. With their help we climbed out of the relegation zone.
Trying to avoid the same situation the next year, I asked the board for more transfer funds. (Bank balance was over 1M). They told me off, of course, and their satisfaction with me dropped quite a bit when I gave them an ultimatum :p
Before I could get the boot, I jumped ship to fellow Div2 team Rotherham Utd. Over 1M transfer kitty, 25k/week wage budget but wages of 38k/week looked interesting and rewarding. Played the last games of the season to find out who to give the boot to cut the wage budget. Found out that I had no wingers because all of them had expiring contracts and already had signed for other teams.

Stuck without wingers, a too high wage budget and lots of money to spend, I decided to try first the guys I had in the squad. Offensive formation, through the middle, 3 strikers, and it - of course - did not work. Board wanted a mid-table position and were extremely unhappy with setting a new 7-defeats-in-a-row-club-record.
Panicking, I spent 200k for 4 wingers (2 left ones, 2 right ones) and changed to a very default English formation. Things improved a lot (team form went to 3rd overall), and in the end we finished 9th. Board very happy now.
Still, for the next season, they reduced the wage bill from 25k/month to 20.5k/month. Bastards. :thdn:

Sad thing is: my successor at Wycombe (even less experienced than me) was given a huge transfer kitty, as it seems. He immediately went on a spending spree, buying a completely new squad.
