2009/2010
Wages were still too high, and the chairman started moaning about it. That said, I decided to let my two top earners (5,5k defensive midfielder and the 7,7k super-striker) go. Not that I'd mind the dreaded Spanish striker. He went on to score loads this season again, but he's a primadonna, and I hate him. Which is reason enough.
So, his contract was going to expire at the end of the season, and I did not extend it. (I didn't have the wages for him anyway). He requested to be transfer listed at the start of the season, and signed for Wolves as soon as he could. Unthankful bastard, I was so good to him!
The midfielder left for Blackpool for 800k. Good deal there. Funnily, the replacement guy for him (young Spaniard who only got a few games so far) did well, and also wanted loads of money for a new contract (about to expire as well). I decided to wait and see how he develops, and 4 weeks later he demanded double than what he wanted a month ago. Wtf?
Arsenal seemed to have noticed that, and offered me a generous sum of 0 pounds for him. Yeah, I bet Arsenal don't have cash to spend, huh?
I negotiated the deal and wanted 500k. They agreed (I had not expected that

), and I was two midfielders short. I reinvested 450k of all the money I got for two new midfielders (one for 440k, one for 8k), both being pretty young and not too costly in wages, and we still went strong.
6 weeks before season's end, our star winger (avg rating 8.31, 10 goals) got injured. Damn!
Of course we slided downwards in the table and ended up 5th. Only playoffs
We eliminated Tranmere 2-0 and 0-0 and marched into the finals. Blackpool awaited us there, and with a great game of their latest signing, some 800k midfielder from Millwall, we lost 2-3. Bad Karma, huh?
So, another year in Div2 awaits. Board and supporters are delighted though.
