Associação Desportiva de Fafe Portugal D2B North 07-08
A rollercoaster end to the season. Which was fun, especially compared to the dire first half at Beja that preceeded it. A squad with a couple of quality players was added to by a winger my successor at Beja didn't rate. We have the Portuguese U-19 GK on our books, which is good and bad. He's a class keeper, but keeps missing games for internationals. We also have the division's leading scorer on our books, who netted 24 times this year. (Unfortunately he got 8 of those in 2 games when we had a purple patch, but such is life

)
As I alluded to above, when we were good we were very good. Away wins at two of the top 5 :eek: and a compehensive dismantling of a relegation rival were the high points. We were of course, as is my normal state, inconsistent as hell. We went into our final game two points and a tie breaker ahead of Famalicao in 17th (meaning we'd stay up with a point). In a scenario depressingly similar to my exit at Lusitânia, we led early and then capitulated, going down to a 4-1 loss. Fortunately, however, 3rd place Marco, did us a favour and beat Famalicao, condemning them to the drop instead of us (sorry, Remco

)
We lost 10% of our (crippling) 19000 capacity stadium to the health and safety folks after our last home game. We are 3 million in the red and have no transfer funds. As I enter preseason I have added just two players, my former captain and DC from Lusitânia on a Bosman, and the teenage superkeeper I had my first season at Beja who finally consented to come off the dole after 11 months

. I'm expecting a tough season, and I seriously doubt our ability to achieve the board's expected safe midtable spot. I'll be delighted if we stay up again.
