Albion Rovers - Premier League - Season 2012/13
9 players are signed for a cost of £4.7m over the course of the season. More deadwood is released, while we sell a D/DMC who didn't seem particularly keen to sign a new contract in January to Celtic for a record £2m. That same sum is redirected to Rangers' account for the services of a 20yo AMC - record purchase.
This time, Lady Luck is on our side in Europe. We get drawn in the same group as Lyon, CSKA Moskow and Shelbourne. Starting at France, ref is kind enough to expell 2 Frogs for pretty much nothing, we take full advantage to win 1-0. Home to the Russians, they get a guy sent off late in the game and we take full advantage to win 2-0. Games with Shelbourne were the easiest of the season as we win both games with a 9-0 aggregate to clinch qualification. We then beat Lyon at home and escape from Moscow with all 3 points courtesy of a dodgy penalty. We didn't even concede a goal. :o
Knockouts: FC Kobenhavn is easily brushed aside 5-1 on agg and we pair with Liverpool (

) in the Quarters. We lose the home leg 0-1. An inspired first half at Anfield sees us lead 2-0. We hang on with all we've got, keeper gets a 10, bless him. On to the semis to face Inter. This time, the wheels fall off. Despite them playing with 10 players for over an hour, their superstar Brazilian striker (yeah, him) p!sses all over my defence as they win 2-1. We manage to keep it decent in Italy and only lose the second leg 2-1. Outclassed.
Domestically, we dominate the league, retain the Scottish Cup and lose the LC Final to Celtic. Four strikers combine for an out-of-this-world tally of 103 goals, while the defence is impressive at times.
I should be looking to move soon, but i'm in no hurry. I'll wait till something interesting comes up... or goes down
