Wolves - Premiership - Season 2016/17
I spend quite a lot during the pre-season. In fact, i spend like there was no tomorrow, then i spend some more. Selling the Greek MRL to the Arse for £20m and a couple of other guys for about £12m more unties my hands; 5 new strikers come in, among them a 27yo Yankee FLC for £13m, a Greek SC->FLC who won the European Champs golden boot, a Dane FLC from Rangers on a free etc etc. Of course, i never bother to buy some better defenders or a much needed keeper, but hey, i've almost enough strikers now.
Season starts shakily, as the team obviously needs time to gel. We hover around 5th most of the time, about 12 points behind Liverpool and Chelsea who seem to be in a league of their own.
In Europe, we batter FH in the first knockour Round, top a group consisting of Amica, Besiktas, Dortmund and Monaco and land Benfica for KO R2. The end of our European obligations coincides with a good patch of form in December. We catch up with L'pool and Chelsea and for a brief moment we're second only on GD.
Unfortunately, injuries, supsensions and call-ups all conspire so that we can only field a reserve squad at Anfield. An 0-4 bashing by the scousers, followed by a 1-2 loss at Ipswich has heavy cosequences on our title aspirations. We take all of 6 weeks to recover, during which time all is lost. Liverpool embark on a winning streak that eventually wins them the title, we bomb out of the UEFA Cup with a 1-2 agg. loss to a lack-lustre Benfica and get humiliated at the Arse in the FA Cup.
Eventually we beat Chelsea to the second place, thanks to excellent form in the end of the season. Hopefully we can take it a step further next season, some promising freebies are already lined up - and not everyone of them is a striker \o/

EPL:
2nd W24 D7 L7 GD 86-36 P79.
LC R4: Wolves 2-3e Manure.
FAC R6: Arsenal 5-1 Wolves.
UEFA KO R2: Benfica 2-1 Wolves on agg.
Greece
8 games played, and Holland are leading the table with 18 points. Denmark and ourselves are tied at 16, and the schedule shows we have a decent chance of finishing ahead of them. However, an early defeat we suffered at Finland may prove costly.
Apologies for the length of this post.
