In close season I have just been offered the chance to manage either of the Wales U19 or U21 teams. I am an obscure English manager of a tiny Italian club. How do they even know I exist?

You know the phrase "...if you're the last man on earth.."? Obviously they already asked everyone else.

Small point, but I think it's 'pared down', not 'paired down'. Picky, I know.

Sounds like you are doing a canny job. As someone who has mananged in the lower eschlons (sp?) or Italy before - I know how hard it is.

KUTGW.

PS - How do you get offered the U21 jobs - didn't think this was possible ? (it's not happened to me ).

Maybe it's his Michael Jackson tendencies that have alerted the U-21 hiring committees. I've never been asked to manage an U-21 side. It took me something like 12 seasons to get offered a regular national job.

KUTGW - sounds fun

I really want either an Under-21, Under-19 or even a B/C Team job, just because it'll be a completely different type of job to standard club management. If you're a B/C Team Manager, your priority is not promotion, but staying up and ensuring that you blood through enough players that the A Team manager can have a reasonable idea of who is good. Personal success is surely measured in the amount of players you get through the system (and not freed) rather than league position.

Under-21 or -19 teams would be similar, but with the idea that you bring on players to the extent that they play for top level clubs instead of being released to lower league clubs. At my favourite team (English League One), there are a load of players there who've been given frees from Premiership clubs but who have been Under-19 or -21 internationals (captains in some cases)...

Now I know you can get these jobs, it makes me a happy man

I was tempted to take one of the Under 19 or 21 jobs but as I loaded the Italian League only, I suspect that there aren't too many Welsh of Scots to pick from.

I do tend to pick up lots of youngsters in this game, there seems to be lots of unattached Italian kids around at the start of each season, many with good looking stats. It does annoy me though when a 15-year old is demanding to be a first team player at 15!

By the way, does anyone know how you can make a co-ownership bid? I've managed to raise some much-needed transfer funds by selling 50% stakes in a couple of players, but when I attempt to buy a stake in player the co-ownership option is always greyed out.

Just started the new season in Serie B and its going to be a long, hard road. Four league games in and no goals scored plus a 5-0 home thrashing in the Cup by Venezia.

No one will come (well no one with any ability!). And just learned our 4,000 capacity stadium cannot be expanded as the club does not own it.
