I started a game with the German, Dutch, Belgian and French leagues loaded; a few random clicks later, I found myself in charge of 1 SC Feucht in the German Southern Regional division.
First shock was the bank balance - in excess of £400,000, but with only £45k to spend.
Second shock was the size of the ground; in the high twenty thousands with the majority seated. [Since confirmed with SI as a data error] So, ground maintenance pretty soon swallowed up the budget.
As for the league, after an indifferent start, we found ourselves only six points off the second promotion spot going into the mid-season break. After winning our first game back in February, we only managed to score in one of the next 8 games Surprised . Not surprisingly, we had done little more than meet our fans' and board's expectations of mid table by season's end. Not the most exciting team to watch, we ended the season with the best defence (26 conceded) and second worst attack (28 scored) after all 34 games.
My biggest concern, having seen the balance slide deep into the red, was that all the summer transfers that I had lined up would be cancelled. However, reasonable tv money of £250k ensured that I was still allowed £28k to spend.

Another mkus update - deja vu for Hut regulars Post #2
This season my capacity is 37,000 with 29,000 seats. I have not paid a penny towards this expansion.
Going into the midwinter break in third place, two points off top spot; W8 D8 L2
Stadium has increased its capacity to 37,000 and I didn't pay a penny for it \o/.
Seems that in Germany they don't shift teams between regional divisions. Last season both North and South had 18 teams, this year North has 17 and South 19. That does mean 5 relegation spots in my division and only 3 in the North.

Mid-season break. Feucht are 5 points clear of the relegation spots, a position that I hope we can maintain. turning in a slight profit each month, which is always welcome.
...
We lost our last 5 games of the season; fortunately the 35 points that we had acquired (final record W10 D5 L19) was enough to keep us in division 2 next season by 4 points.
This close season TV money and transfer fund allocation day coincided, so now I have £775k to play with. Made a profit last season and have over £5 million in the bank. No bugger'll join though.

A two part update, for reasons which will become painfully apparent.
The first 32 games
Brought in a number of summer signings which, whilst doing nothing to improve the quality of the first team, strengthened the squad. The first match of the season made me feel that it was going to be a long, hard slog:
Hertha BSC 6-0 1 SC Feucht Surprised
Fortunately, this sparked a 10 game unbeaten run (8 league, two cup) and by the mid-season break we were only two points off a promotion spot (goal difference only back to even by this point) and into the cup quarter final.
Managed to bring in a couple of quality players in January - a much needed quality goalscorer and midfielder (both Romanian) and a player that I often seem to sign in FM for some reason, the Senegalese (human) version of Spit the Dog. Also teed-up the signing of about 10 quality youngsters for the end of the season, most of whom will spend a year or two in the second team.
We went out of the cup to Hamburg in the quarters, and with three league games to go we were second (well behind Hertha), 5 points clear of fourth. However, our last 3 games were all away, including matches at the teams in 3rd and 4th.
Match 32, against the fourth placed team ended in a draw, leaving us in the promotion spots by 3 points with two to play.

Match 34 - against the 3rd placed team, who were one point behind, for the honour of finishing second: From 1-0 down, fought back to 1-1, had a man sent off, went 2-1 ahead, went into the final ten minutes with a second sending off and two men injured down to about 30%. Managed to hold on for a 2-2 draw and secured the runner-up spot in the 2nd division.
Despite the English leagues being inactive; Newcastle beat Aston Villa 1-0 in the Uefa Cup final, Manchester United beat Roma 2-0 to retain the Champions League and England beat Italy 1-0 in the European Championships final.
Progressed through a couple of pre-season friendlies, on the matchday of the third I decided that this would be a good point to leave and pick up next time. Except, that for some reason, if you exit the game on the matchday you are not given the option to save. A fraction of a second after I had clicked "yes" on the dialogue box (out of habit) I realised that it had not asked me if I wanted to save, but rather had I wanted to quit. :flame: :explode::explode::explode::explode::explode::expl ode::explode::
So when I have the strength of will, I shall restart from match 33.
