After continuing with my 96 hour save game last night, currently with Boston United in League 1, the game froze up on me but I had not saved for somewhere between 4-6 games.
Apart from the extreme frustration, I was somewhat glad that I had not lost the save entirely.
The problem that I have is that Boston United are fighting in a relegation battle that could see ten teams having a realistic chance of going down. This means that not only are my results important but so are results around me.
During this time I was negotiating with players that had been souted for me and was attempting to sign three of them. One deal fell though but I managed to sign both of the other players. The problem here is that one of them does not start out too well and gets ratings of 4's and 5's.
What would you do inb this situation? Would you soldier on and forget about what results that had been achieved and the knowledge about players beng signed? Would you give up on the save, retire from the club and start at a new?
That's always a tough one. For a relatively short period such as this I tend to try and do things the same as before, as I can more or less remember what I did. The player looked good enough from your scout report, so sign him again.
There's no guarantee he'll start badly this time, either. I recently lost 3 games to a crash, and despite doing things exactly the same where possible, lost two games I had won and had 4 defenders pick up injuries. There's enough randomness in the game as it is
If i was enjoying the save, there's no way losing 4 or 5 games would put me off it. Now, 4 or 5 lost months...
My take on your other problem is that it's a case of "previous knowledge". I would sign that player again, as his bad patch of form would dissapear along with the results of the lost games.
Who knows? Same as the results in these games will turn out different, he might turn out to be good second time through.
Thanks, I think I will carry on and chalk it up to experience if I do better or worse in the games to be replayed. I wanted to get as much done before FM 2006 comes out.
